2014 Outback Bowl Outback stats

Although Iowa didn't have a high powered offense, I really love what I saw from our defense. If not for some offensive miscues and special teams return, we could have easily shut them out.

Some positives:
Danielle Hunter completed abused Iowa's all-Big Ten offensive tackle.

Jalen Mills found a home at FS.

White and Robinson will both be contending for all-conference.

LaCouture and Thomas will perform well at DT.

I don't know why Deion Jones isn't starting right now. That cat was all over the field in that game. Maybe Lamar Louis understands the defense better or is more discipline. When Jones puts it all together, he will be very, very dominate.

I'm looking forward to seeing this defense - especially Danielle Hunter. Dude looks to be the next great DL.

Not to take credit from the defense because they played very well in that game, but Iowa's was totally inept.

Also,

I think the word you're looking for is dominant.

LSU had 220 total rushing yards, and Hill had 216. He carried them, and will be missed, no doubt. Without much of a passing game, Fournette better be THAT good, till the passing game can mature.

Oops...I forgot all about #13 Dwayne Thomas has really grown as our dime back. He continues to either get pressure on the QB or sack him.

Probably knowing his assignments. Take the game winning interception against Iowa. Deion Jones nearly chased down Iowa's QB who was rolling right and caused the interception.

But here's the thing....he needed to be told where to line up before the play. He looked confused. But somebody told him where to be, and he just did his thing after that.

So that's probably the reason why we prefer Kwon Alexander and Lamar Louis, if I had to guess.

This is gonna be a disgusting defense come October...

DE-Hunter
DT-LaCotoure
DT-Thomas
DE-Rasco

OLB-Kwon
MLB-Beckwith
OLB-Debo

CB-Robinson
FS-Mills
SS-Martin
CB-White

Bain will be a beast rotating on the d-line, and the fact that Rickey Jefferson, Ed Paris, Jalen Collins, Dwayne Thomas and Jamal Adams will be coming off out bench in the secondary is downright unfair.

They will be good. But don't get too excited over a game against Iowa

Arkansas sucked and we almost lost that game. All I am saying is that the defense seemed to improve a lot during bowl preparation.

They had the worst QB in the history of football.

this is what tempered my excitement for the D's performance. still can't complain when Iowa was gifted all their pts.

Will certainly play a huge factor in the D. I know they both fit better at FS, but if we can fit him and Mills back there, that will be one disgusting secondary.

I don't remember a single play from that game. I've erased it from my memory along with several other stinkers in the recent past. Did we win?

You've erased the memory of a New Years Day Bowl victory because it was a "stinker" to you? Man, must really suck to be you.
