UCLA and Houston come close, but when you have 3 of the NBA's top players of ever, and 1 at each position (G,F,C), i just don't see how anybody could top them.

Chris Jackson
Pete Maravich
RUDY MACKLIN!
Bullet Bob Pettit
Shaq

RESERVES
Stanley Roberts
Brandon Bass
Glenn Davis
Howard Carter
Marcus Thornton
Tyrus Thomas
Stromile Swift

GAME OVER

Good starting five EXCEPT for Swift. Rudy instead.

For Playstation it might look great to have CJ out there but in real life Ethan Martin was a much better distributor and infinitely better defensively than Chris Jackson. You also would need an enforcer and the best ever at LSU was Greg Cook and you might as well put supersub Willie Sims on there nobody better coming off the bench!!!!!!

I'd put John Williams in the top five. And move Macklin down.

I'm pretty sure North Carolina could put together a team that would beat LSU.

The 5 best players in LSU basketball history are CJ, Shaq, Pete, Pettit, and Macklin.

Whether that's who you'd want as your starting lineup is a different story.

You'd be surprised.

ESPN had an "all-time" NCAA Tournament a few years back, seeding each school's all-time team and placing them in a bracket-style tournament.

UCLA was seeded #1, UNC #2, and LSU #3.

LSU ran through their side of the bracket and ended up facing North Carolina in the Final Four. The winner was determined by fan voting, so UNC won. However, both of the experts picked LSU, so the idea that LSU could beat UNC's all-time team is certainly not that far-fetched.

He did say all time basketball team and talked about beating other teams. If that is the case you would definitely want a great passer, penetrator and defender at point guard such as Ethan Martin over someone like CJ who would monopolize the ball which is what you wouldnt need with Piston,Petit and Shaq on the floor already. Macklin would be great because he would get most of his points off rebounds and tips and wouldnt need the ball in the offense either.

Oh, and DeWayne Scales has to be in the top six or seven.

Yes, Macklin would absolutely be in the starting lineup. Period, as someone said earlier.

Pretty good efforts by:

NC: Jordan, Worthy, Cunningham

Houston: Hakeem, Hayes, Drexler

Yea UNC has had a ton of very good to great players however Jordan is the only one that matches up with the likes of Pistol, Shaq and Petit. Three versus one advantage LSU. Not to mention if you had Shaq and the Cookieman on the floor at the same time UNC would get nothing in the paint!

LSU had Chris Jackson, Shaq and Stanley on the same team and did not win a NC......

Can we get Vernel on the bench for versatility and overall fan enthusiasm?

James Worthy? I seem to remember he was an ok player.

Only after Leonard "Swat" Mitchell, probably my favorite LSU cager ever.

ETA: Oh, and with all due respect, Stanley Roberts doesn't deserve to read this list, much less be on it. Cookie man all day, every day.

James Worthy was a very good player and I was a big fan of his in college and the pros. However I would put him a notch below Shaq, Pistol, Petit and Jordan.

I agree with you on Mitchell and the Cookieman FYI.

I've always said, any all-time LSU hoops team of mine has Ethan Martin at point. Pistol and CJ can play off guard and they'll get their touches with E at the point. I wanna win not impress with name recognition.

Ethan
Pistol
Shaq
Pettit
Macklin

Reserves

CJ sixth man
John Williams
Jerry Reynolds
Brandon Bass
Hi-C
Big Baby
