LSU winning with "Smoke and Mirrors"

I heard this on the radio today on an LSU show. Exactly how is LSU winning with smoke and mirrors? LSU was picked to win the west, they are the most experienced team in the league, they have to POY candidates and they are winning games by an average of 14 PPG int he league. How exactly is that "smoke and mirrors"?

Beat Bama by 14, but probably could have been 30 if we wouldn't have played our freshmen with 8 minutes left. Then had 21 turnovers, msu had 52 free throws I believe, and MT struggled and still pulled out a win at msu.

The point is that LSU isn't winning with smoke and mirrors. They are dominating. How is that smoke and mirrors?

Hey, I'm not the one who called LSU winning with smoke and mirrors. As long as we keep winning, I don't care what they call us winning with.

I interpret that to mean LSU, on paper, isn't as talented or tall as some of the teams it plays. They're winning on guts & determination. And good coaching.

That's my point..LSU is as tall and as talented as all the teams they play..they are one of if not the most talented team in the SEC...it has nothing to do with smoke and mirrors

I don't think they are winning with smoke in mirrors. I think they are the best team in the SEC this year. However this team doesn't have the same feel I had in 99-00 or 05-06 in that it can make a serious run in the tourney. I know the 99-00 team didn't go very deep but it easily could have. I mean we are winning every game now but I wouldn't be surprised if we are one and done in the tourny whereas I would have been shocked if we didn't win a few games in those years. Maybe even I am underestimating them, I think it's the lack of an enforcer in the paint that scares me. Those teams had Jabari, Stromile, Big Baby and Tyrus.

All I'm saying is that's the media perception of LSU. No marquee names, so they must be using "trickery" to win. We know it's a false perception.

was it an out of town show? Anyway i think smoke and mirrors is the wrong term here. He may feel like I do that they are just beating some average to slightly above average teams and aren't as good as 20-4 would indicate. Like I said we are clearly the best team in the SEC, i just don't know what that means.
