I see Ware, Ford, and Hilliard combining for 1800+ yards, with everyone else adding another 700 or so.

I thought this was a dumb subject line (not likely to happen) until I read your rationale.

Maybe it could happen. Our offense struggled at times to make first downs, especially early in games. If the passing attack helps us keep drives alive, we could have substantially more offensive snaps over the course of a year.

Not having the QB carry the ball will help the RBs get more carries.

I would guess Ware and ... the second one is tough.

Miles loves Ware's toughness, Ware is dedicated to picking up the blitz in pass protection, and he has great hands out of the backfield on pass plays (which I think we'll see more RB screens this year). Ware's a sure starter early this year IMO.

Ford was most effective running the option game with Jefferson. I wonder how he'll fit in with a pocket passer. And so far he's been a liability in pass protection. I could see him being the #1 back this year or just as easily #3 or #4.

Hilliard is most like Ware, great in short yardage. I would expect they'll take carries from each other. Don't think you'll see both Hilliard and Ware to be in the top 2 because they are more similar than different.

So I'll go with Blue, who has speed to give us a change of pace, as my other back, with Ware, to get the most carries.

Ware and Blue for 1k, Alex.

It would help if Blue or Ford has multiple breakout games where they rip off huge yardage. Considering that we essentially had six RBs last year and a weaker offense and still had two go over 700...it's possible. Not probable, but possible.

As for the subject line, I've found that if you're too rational they read it, say, "yep, good point", and the thread dies by page 2. If you say something retarded you'll hit double-digit pages in less than 24 hrs.

Not saying that my subject line was retarded, of course.

In fact, let me ask it another way. Do you think that it is possible for the six LSU RBs this year to avg just 30 more yards per game than the six ball carriers did last year? If so, then the chances of having two over 1k aren't bad.

Not sure thats going to happen but its not impossible. Especially if one of our backs gets to 1000 yards after the first 8 games. Then it may be a concentrated effort to get the other guy to the mark..

Our RBs had around 475 carries last year. JJ had 75 carries on top of that. So assume 550 attempts this season. A RB like Ford or Blue would need 150 touches minimum to have a shot at 1,000 yards.. Hilliard would probably need 190+ to do it and Ware would probably need 220 to get there. IF the bulk of the carries are given to Ford and Blue then there is a shot at it happening.

So, give Ford and Blue 150 carries each, and there is a decent possibility of it happening.

Would love to see it happen...

Updated with totals for the top three backs. Hilliard and Blue are on pace.

With a balanced passing attack, I don't see this happening. Hilliard will probably have over 1000 yds, but that's it.

I'll give you an old coaching secret: You key on the one in the backfield because the ones on the sideline can't get the ball.

Blue and Hilliard still on pace. Hilliard needs to average around 82 yds/game the rest of the way, Blue needs to average around 78.

LSU also ahead of pace as a team for a 5k yard season in total offense!

With Blue out(maybe, don't attack me) Hilliard will probably be the only 1000yd back with the rest chiming in for 3000yd total. Ford could do damage and finish with 700 also, if he gets the carries.

What about the O-line injuries and position shuffling? Some players haven't looked all that great thus far.

I don't think we get 2 but Miles will keep Hilliard at either 1 or 2 and with 13/14 games he will crack a grand. The OL (barring major injuries) will suffice because we have the big mauler Copeland lead blocking.
