OOC game against a quality ACC opponent with a good coach in Butch Davis.

They looked good at times, but just find it hard to call them quality when they almost got beat by McNeese last year.

Opening up vs. a pretty good UNC team in Atlanta is a recipe for disaster. LSU is usually pretty rusty the first half or so of the season. This game would be fun for the fans, but the team doesn't need it.

Personally I love the matchup. UNC is a quality team that will stay in the top 20 as long as Butch is the coach. That being said we should beat them 8 out of 10 times. Playing Tulane and other La. teams seems like such a waste of effort with no upside. Invarialby it seems as if key players get hurt during these games. Lack of enthusiasm and concentration can be attributable to this. Loved the Texas A&M games from years back. Geaux Tigers

Did you watch the 1st half vs. Mississippi State?

And Virginia Tech was our second game. LSU plays fine by then. It normally takes LSU almost the whole 1st half to get going.

You're right, 17-0 on the road was terrible. I do remember how Tiger nation was panicing!

That's life on the SEC on the road when you have Carnell Stewart starting at right tackle. If we're as good as everyone on this board seems to think, then we should beat a team like UNC. Butch's recruiting on defense is comparable possibly to LSU's, but they don't have close to the talent on offense that LSU will have.

3 points in the first 25 minutes vs. Mississippi State? That's pretty rusty.

What was the score at halftime?

God, we have way too many panicky Tiger fans on here.

We'll be better on offense than we were that year. We'll have a more experienced QB, better OL, better WRs, etc.

My goodness.

None of those guys had proven jack at that time besides Doucet.

Do you not remember that DE for Moo beat Stewart the entire 1st half???

I'm done with this one.

Exactly. LSU has a history of starting off rusty as a team. Luckily we never start off against anybody worth two shits.

UNC would be different. We'd win, but it would be a useless game for LSU.

Beating a top 20 team, how is that useless? Good for the polls and the computers. Good for recruiting. Good for exposure.

Elite programs don't run away and hide.

And pointing to history is for losers. That game had nothing to do with rust, Stewart sucked against everyone.

Be a loser and play against North Texas though if you shall please. Don't cry if it keeps us out of the BCS though.

Do you even know that we're playing West Virginia that year? Then along with the SEC schedule, nothing would keep LSU out of the national title game if they do what they should.

Useless game.

You have no idea what could happen with other teams. The computers add it all up, so hence you should schedule games like this if you can. Maybe a 1 loss LSU team gets in over a 0 loss Big 10 team, or something like that.

Play the opener, win the game, and then you get a breather or two before the SEC season opens.

Get on National TV helps your program. Sick of seeing Bama doing it two straight years, and then we have losers like you that don't want it.

UNC has more to gain than LSU from playing in that game. LSU will be back in the area in December to play to help with recruiting that part of the country anyways. Every SEC game and the one against West Virginia will be on ESPN or CBS with the majority of those being on national TV.

LSU doesn't need to play 10 out of 12 games in 2010 vs. SEC or high quality opponents. 2005 and 2007 are examples of LSU wearing down at the end of the season. That would likely happen again in 2010.

You don't think I want LSU to get exposure? That's retarded. LSU doesn't need this game at all. We'll have plenty of exposure from the 9 regular season games on TV and the possible 2 in the post season.
