We just refuse to open the season at home anymore.

Excited to open with Miami.

Neutral sites are ok, but could come back to haunt us if we end up being a candidate for a bowl in Dallas.

Wish we could do a neutral game in New Orleans.

Since Miles started here, we have been scheduled to open at home 4 out of 10 seasons. And next year we open at home, so make it 5 of 11. It's really not that terrible.

All of Miami Hurricane 18 fans will show up in Dallas. In other words, unless LSU fills up Jerry's World, there will be lots of empty seats.

Will Dallas even exist then?

We did lose the home game against Arizona State...you are right that it would be 4 of 10 instead of 3 of 10. But it just seems like we should open at home more times than not.

Why? We are a big program and we get lots of exposure by opening with these big games. Everyone here whines about cupcakes at home, but then gets mad when we open with big games.

Can't really have it both ways.

Yeah, there's such a thing as scheduling home and homes with legit teams. We used to do it all the time.

I don't mind playing Miami even if they're down in 2018. They still get name recognition.

In Dallas? I'm not sure I'll go.

I have a new rule. I'm not going to another neutral site until LSU schedules a decent OOC opponent in Tiger Stadium. I don't mind alternating every other year but I'm not wasting my time or money if we can never have a quality OOC game at home.

What started as a good idea for exposure, recruiting, and financial compensation...has really gotten out of hand. They've seriously degraded the value of being a season ticket holder.

Miami is the best LSU can do?? they suck

Who knows how they will be in a few years. Look at Michigan State the past 3 years. Look at FSU after years of being mediocre. Look at Auburn from 3-9 to 12-2.

Miami is in one of the hottest of hot beds for recruiting. If they ever have another big year, the talent will come rolling in.

It's just not as easy as it used to be anymore. And then we'd have to hear about why are we opening the season on the road still.

That's a cop out.

How does Notre Dame do it?

Exactly. Miami, Florida State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas A&M (when they were nonconference). But in recent years, it seems we have played more neutral site games than nearly anyone. Maybe Alabama has played as many as LSU?

Not having a conference and mainly playing teams they have traditions with.

Which would be fine if we have the return home game.

Until we lose the season opener on the road in Norman and then everybody screams how week 1 we're out of the playoff race.

If the fans want LSU to start playing multiple Power 5 teams OOC, including road games every year, then they have to be willing to accept more losses will come from that and more lost opportunities for championships. Can't really have it both ways

I'm not saying playing multilple Power 5 teams a year. Just one like almost all other SEC teams. And it doesn't even have to be the season opener. Just do a home and home insted of neutral site games. In a few years, the SEC is requiring all teams to play at least one of these games anyway.

Only 7 SEC teams played a Power 5 opponent this year, with 3 of those being traditional rivalries that never change(UF-FSU, GA-GTech, SC-Clemson)

Next year that number jumps all the way to 8. SEC scheduling sucks across the board for the most part. I know it's a hard conference to play in, but most teams aren't even trying to get competitive games.
