I still don't understand why Ohio State is getting so much love? It's not like they are light years better than anyone in the top 10.

No, but they're the defending champs, and they're undefeated. So it's not hard to understand why someone would vote them #1.

If LSU takes care of business, it won't matter.

WTF does it matter?

If LSU takes care of business, it's a moot point.

Les will have a chance to show with his team on the field that he's more than Cholly Mac to Nick Saban's Bear Bryant.

He talks about quality wins...

Puts UF at 5th. LSU 3rd. Bama 1st.

Since they put Barrett back in they've looked pretty good.

And you answered your own question. With no one looking that good, they will just defer to the champions.

Jon Wilner:

quote:

This deep into the season, I’m reluctant to slot one team over another if there is a two-loss difference in record (5-2 over 7-0, for instance). But when there’s a one-loss difference and a marked disparity in SOS/quality wins, I have no problem slotting, say, 6-1 over 7-0.

#12 - Michigan (5-2)
#13 - TCU (7-0)

#17 - Texas A&M (5-2)
#18 - Oklahoma State (7-0)

*Disclaimer: As noted by other posters, this is a completely meaningless poll. Just goes to show you either: (i) how little these pollsters pay attention; or (ii) what lengths they are willing to go to get some press.

I understand the logic, but I don't think I agree with it.

Last season should still be irrelevant towards this season.

FSU was #1 majority of last season for the exact same reason and they looked pretty lethargic in wins.. and more teams deserved to be ranked ahead.. and then when playoffs came that got annihilated..

I just don't know that it's the right logic. Although now that teams are actually losing, I think OSU is fine to be in the top 4.

And OSU was losing #1 votes in the polls when they were looking lethargic. Now they are looking good again recently so the votes are going back to them.

I don't care where OSU since they will be in the playoff if they win

Votes aren't going back to them just like votes aren't going back to clemson, baylor and LSU. Utah lost and their 12 votes were distributed.
