I know this game isn't going to excite anyone, but Central Michigan at least has been a steady bowl eligible mid-major the last handful of years.

They just destroyed Kansas last weekend 45-27. They beat a very good Oklahoma State team last season, despite it being a very controversial win. They destroyed Purdue 38-17 back in 2014. They beat Iowa back in 2012. They have been bowl eligible the last 5 seasons.

and by the time we play them on 20fricking21, they will settle back into mediocrity

They have only not been bowl eligible twice in the last 12 seasons

ULL has been to bowls 5 out of the last 6 years. It's not that hard.

so we have absolutely nothing to gain and a lot to lose by playing them.
Smart scheduling there.

Just play fricking Nichols or Southeastern and give them the money to get their arse kicked. Keep the money in state. No one gives a shite about these games anyway. If you aren't playing a decent P5 school, just give the money to an instate school.

We are ALREADY scheduled to play McNeese State in 2021, try and keep up. You cant play 2 FCS teams in the same year.

2011 = 9-4
2012 = 9-4
2013 = 9-4
2014 = 9-4
2015 = 4-8
2016 = 6-7
2017 = Destroyed by Tulsa and managed to barely come away with a win over FCS Southeastern LA

They still went to a bowl game. I thought that's your measuring stick of success with Central Michigan. They might end up in a bowl game this year.

ULL has clearly fallen off from what they used to be, and the Sun Belt is basically an FCS conference. It's the worst out there. Even worse than the MAC.

I think it would be best to schedule a game against teams in areas we recruit. Maybe USF or UCF (I know, not FCS)in Florida. Possibly a Texas or Oklahoma team. Savanah St or Valdosta in GA.

I agree with your post, but this example probably could have been left out. Everyone destroys Kansas.

Unless we play there how does that really help recruiting wise?

Valdosta St. is DIV II btw, and you never want to play Savannah State. Usually one of the worst FCS teams each year.

Too bad they can't get a home and home with some of those other teams in Michigan...

yes you can... And if anyone tries to say the second doesn't count for bowl eligibility, if it comes down to that, that's the problem, not the scheduling.

SOS is basically irrelevant bc a 2>= loss SEC champion will never miss the CFP

You CAN but again, only 1 of those games counts towards eligibility. That's why no one ever does schedule 2 FCS teams unless you HAVE to.

Those La teams get paid by other schools, regardless. LSU buys a win, regardless.
