LSU Pass ranking since 2009 - ahead of only triple option offenses all of NCAA

Entering 2016, LSU's passing yards per game ranked 94th or worse nationally in six of the past seven seasons.
Only Air Force, Georgia Tech, New Mexico, Army and Navy rate that poorly in passing since 2009. This includes 2013 season inflating the numbers with OBJ/Landry historic season.
Les has been coaching since 2005, which means right around the time his first recruiting class were seniors was 2009. Lucky Mett fell from grace at Georgia, otherwise it's likely we still wouldn't of had even one prolific Les Miles-recruited QB.

This is a truly incredible statistic. I used to think way back in 09 and 10 when Jefferson was throwing for like 92 yards in a game, "How can this still be happening in modern college football?"
And things really haven't changed since then.

2017 will be the year. BH is falling right in line with LM's 5 year QBs plan. Everything will change next year!!! I can't help but weap in awe of Miles' coaching ingenuity.

Lsu fans shouldn't be forced to accept that mediocrity. There's no reason with all the top talent here that this team should consistently struggle to put together a passing offense worth a damn. It's flat out unacceptable.

How would one find the stats from Les' college days at Michigan? I'd like to see how they stack up vs what we do today.
Never mind....it's on Wikipedia. About what I thought. 125 pass attempts in one year. Probably same plays we ran Saturday.

Its been some time since I looked it up (you can go to the SEC stats and find the numbers), but even with : 1) a starting NFL quarterback (Mettenberger); 2) 2 NFL All Pro receivers (Beckham and Landry); 3) an NFL starter left tackle who could have been a 1st round pick; 4) a NFL starter in his rookie year running back (Hill); and a handful of high draft choices, we finished the year ranked 6th in most of the SEC offensive stats. And that is the year that we use as a benchmark for success. We did lead the league (or were in the top 3) for penalties during that period (several years in a row).

How the hell do we even get these talented WR's here? Honestly, does Les give them the same "we'll open up the passing next year" speech and they eat it up?

The NFL finds talent. James Wright got drafted and hardly saw the field.
I'm sure elite scouts have a built in metric when evaluating LSU receivers NFL potential that you can't just "go by the #s".
In other words, "let's not penalize the kid just because he dreamed of being a Tiger his whole life and had the misfortune of playing there while Les Miles & his buddy controlled the offense". Same with Calvin Johnson & Demaryious Thomas at Ga. Tech

They didn't run the option when CJ was there, it just seemed like it because Reggie Ball sucked so hard

Ok, you have identified an area of weakness whether it be coaching, recruiting , lack of concepts or whatever.
Now , to be fair please post where LSU has ranked among those 94 teams in total wins, top 25 rankings, top 10 rankings, conference titles and national championships during those 7 seasons. What is the record ve Top 25 and Top 10 opponents
The program has also competed against Alabama during a great run. How would LSU stack up over those 7 years in an SEC where Alabama was not so dominant or in those pass happy leagues. I think we got a glimpse of that in the Texas Tech game.
Alabama runs a vastly similar offense, but has been more successful due to it offensive line play more than creativity. The LSU quarterbacks are forced to throw under duress more often which results less time for receivers to come open on their routes.
So, yes, the pass attack must improve to consistently compete for league and national honors, but this is still a premier program in college football in the larger perspective.

Might you be missing the point? They are basically dead last of "normal" offenses in all of NCAA football. Imagine how amazing our backs are/have been & then imagine how much better they would be if there was some semblance of a passing threat to keep the D honest

Not defending the stat but how are they dead last when there are 128 teams? You listed like 5 option teams. Not 34.

We started the game off running 3 in a row then punting. Next series we threw 3 in a row and punted. Next thing I knew it was halftime and we had like 60 yards of offense.
