Well, they're sitting in the seats in the stadium with literally the worst views of the court. You can't see much from behind the goal. No one wants to sit there. Maybe it would be easier to displace the dorks if they got rid of the media melvins first.

Cameron Indoor has 1/3 of the seating of LSU and is louder and more intimidating. The days of the giant arena are over. Tennessee was the last to do it.

They tried this during the Trent Johnson era. You know what happened, they went from an 80% full arena to a 10% full arena (if even that). Baton Rouge doesn't support losers. Especially expensive losers.

Haven't read this thread, but I agree. Honestly, the arena is fine, but the scoreboard is horrendous. It's been the same scoreboard since the 90's. It desperately needs to go

Why?
Let's look at what's "wrong" with the old building:
No sky boxes: This can't be solved without a new arena.
Court looks dark on TV: this can be solved with new lighting
Mediocre screen: this can be solved with a new screen
dead atmosphere: a lot of this has to do with the placement of the student section relative to the media section and what not. A new, smaller arena would be easier to make "feel" rowdy.
Seats too far from the court: Some renovations could help this with the lower bowl, but a new arena would really be needed to address this issue.
With all of this said, a new arena would be an extremely expensive endeavor that I don't really think would be worth it.

Drop the capacity down to roughly 9k and add sky boxes and true court side seating = profit.
