Lol. DOUBT it. Committee values head to head results.
Lol. The Sugar Bowl will let the committee know which SEC team will be highest ranked.

If not the Sugar Bowl, hopefully it will be a Florida bowl against a traditional power like FSU, Nebraska, Penn State, Michigan State etc. We need to finally beat Nebraska and Penn State.

Does the committee have any say in who the Sugar Bowl selects?

Yes, since the Sugar Bowl is obligated to select the SEC champion. If the champion is in the playoff, they have to select the highest ranked non-playoff SEC team. Thus the conversation ongoing about where LSU will be ranked going into this weekend.

If UF loses to Bama, then there will be 5 4-loss SEC teams (LSU, Auburn, A&M, Florida, and Tennessee). The committee will then rank their Top 25, and we'll see where it falls.

Well, Tenn and A&M are out.

That leaves Florida, LSU, and Auburn.

LSU lost to both at the last second but played Bama much closer and is coming off of a win in comparison to losses by the other two.

So, it will basically come down to whether the pollsters value momentum or head to head matchups more. I have no idea what to expect.

Sorry guys... the head to head losses cannot be argued. They are the deal breakers no matter how you look at it.

The second deal breaker, especially with AU is that they have one more win than us. Florida screwed us there and yet we are the bad guys.

On top of all of that, the out of state tourism that an out of state team would bring is also a factor. Out of state LSU fans would get hotel rooms but not as many and they would not take in the sights of N O like other fanbases would.

We can get as optimistic as you like but the reality is too clear cut to deny. Lets be happy with a solid bowl this year and hope that we get a good team to beat and end the season on a high note for CEO and the team.

The head to head loss piece is useful to a certain extent.

The bit about hotel rooms etc is completely irrelevant. The big time bowls are more about prestige and earning a spot. The hotel room crap is important for the shite bowls.

And the idea that LSU fans don't spend money in NO is complete crap.

So LSU will go to the Sugar Bowl over 2 teams that beat them in the regular season with 1 of them going to the SEC Championship game? I highly doubt it.

LSU isn't going to the Sugar Bowl because the Sugar Bowl and New Orleans doesn't want them. It's a business decision.

LSU has four losses but they lost to teams that are all currently ranked - and by a combined total of 23 points.

Auburn has four losses and two of them were to teams that are currently unranked - and by a total of 43 points.

I know the head-to-head matters, but they are talking about Ohio State making it into the CFP over Penn State even if PSU wins the Big 10 championship and even though Penn State beat Ohio State head-to-head so it seems the rules were made to be broken.

Pretty sure that Arky, Ole Miss and A&M were all ranked when we beat them.

One of the things that hurts LSU is being local. The bowl games are sponsored in major part by the hotel/motel/restaurant groups. While LSU could fill the stadium they wont necessarily fill downtown NOLA hotels and restaurents all weekend. They prefer to sell the three day weekend packages as much as possible. LSU will bring a lot of daytrippers. As long as there is a good travelling opponent that is not too big an issue.

You are correct sir. Auburn is in and they suck right now. LSU is the hotter team but very doubtful we will be ranked higher.

What rankings? The rankings which count will be out tomorrow. AP & coaches mean nothing. At this point its which team meets the eye test. Over the last month LSU played better than the other contenders, even in games they lost.
