For the LSU game.

I plainly said Brown vs Nicholls.

I can respect that. I'm just partial to playing non-traditional opponents.

I really liked the Fullerton series a few years back, before BBCOR is was good to bring in a west coast team and expose the guys to small ball that they could see in the Supers/CWS.

If you're going to knock the scheduling when it deserves it, you also have to give it credit when it deserves it. Maryland was coming off their best year in school history, is far enough from us that our schedules won't overlap very much, and plays in a good baseball league.

I liked bringing Maryland in for a series.

Good point, I guess since I'm up here in DC in ACC country I'm used to seeing Maryland get their assess handed to them by UVA, Clemson, UNC, GT, FSU, Miami etc.

I see that side of it. The main reason I like bringing a team from the midwest or northeast is that they won't play any of the other teams we play, which has a better chance of helping us in terms of RPI. Provided they win of course.

The atmosphere in the Stadium is a totally different thing.

That is irrelevant when replying to a post saying the debt on the stadium won't get paid if we keep scheduling teams like Brown and Nicholls which is what ProjectP implied and to which I answered him.

I don't see why we can't convince 2 or 3 good northern teams to come down and get an early season series in against some good competition.
There is very little to be gained for the team or for the cash register if LSU did that.

I didn't imply shite. I plainly said everything I meant to say. You keep ignoring that I'm talking about games at Alex Box that don't involve LSU.

I didn't follow ya'lls line of discussion as closely. However if we brought in schools people wanted to see, could we charge separately. the Astros Classic is able to increase their gate.

This weekend you could get into the Nicholls-Brown game if you had a ticket for the LSU game... that's not increasing the gate.

Apparently neither did he, because you and I were discussing the same thing and he's still quoting box score attendance numbers for LSU's games.

You switched from your criticism of LSU's strength of schedule vs. UNC's SOS to criticizing attendance at Alex Box games this weekend which did not involve LSU, which are obviously two different scenarios.

You're right....I didn't see you change what you were criticizing in the middle of the debate. Sorry.

We can't schedule "good" northern teams to come down here because they will always want a return trip and that costs LSU way too much money. Think about how much money we lose for missing one weekend series at home.

I criticized LSU's choice for weekend opponents vs UNC's, for this weekend. That's different than criticizing SOS as a whole. As you can see from my previous posts, there are some aspects of the schedule that I like.

Because there were two different conversations happening.

That must be why I defended the scheduling of Maryland this year.

This isn't football. Northern teams do not expect a return trip. By the time they can host a series they are in conference play. Southern, texas or Cali teams do however. The major ones at least do, we can get a Big West or most CUSA schools out here with a standard guarantee.

THIS

When was the last time LSU traveled to play anyone OOC before the SEC games started? I can't remember a time.

Edit: It was Stetson back in 2007

Which was when we were in the old stadium and the AD said we didn't have to play 37 or so home games a year. It sucks but it is what it is.
