Jimbo was not a strategy; it was purely reactionary. LSU was perfectly happy with Les Miles until the losing streak.

I agree with this, but like I said in the OP, Les must compete for championship next year, and the AD better be ready for it if he doesn't.

LSU isn't elite - Miles is elite.

-LSU was nothing before Saban, so we should be thankful for what Miles has been able to accomplish and sustain

Saban had ONE season with more than 10 wins in 5 years. Miles had FIVE seasons with more than 10 wins in 11 years.

Saban AVERAGED 3.2 losses while at LSU. People want to run Miles out of town for 3 losses.

People bitch about Miles' record "lately" - in the past 5 years he is 49-15. In Saban's 5 years he was 48-16.

LSU fans are delirious.

Don't be so shortsighted. Saban built the program to where it is. He brought it out of the dark ages. Miles has somewhat sustained that.

Comparing anything Saban did here to Miles is ridiculous. The 2 walked into completely different scenarios.

What was his record his first five years here?

Like I said - DELIRIOUS.
Mile's WORST years are better than Saban's tenure here, but Miles has "somewhat" sustained it?
DELIRIOUS.

51-15.
In other words, if we win the bowl game and McNeese wasn't cancelled, IDENTICAL record the first 5 years and last 5 years.

Perfectly fair expectation if that is the expectation of the job. I won't argue against that expectation because its pretty clear that our fanbase expects a championship.

However, discovering the guy who will do that doesn't start when the season falls apart. It has to start when LSU has leverage on its side, not panic.

It's ok to lose.

It's not ok to get embarrassed and look incompetent year after year. He is paid too much money for that.

Again, you can't compare what Saban did here with what Miles has done. Saban took over a dwindling program.

Miles was handed the keys to a top program, that now has the resources to consistently be elite. Saban never had that.

I agree. Like I said, Alleva better be ready next season if Miles squanders it. What happened these past few weeks was an embarrassment.

This is something that also needs to be taken into consideration. Are the coaches utilizing talent properly? Are they putting our team in the best position to win week in and week out?

It's hard to say yes.

Having an offense ranked 94th or worse 6 of the last 7 seasons is truly inexcusable.

Not at all, and your statement perfectly portrays the mindset of many. The we're not good enough to deserve greatness attitude.

We have everything that those elite programs have. We just need to utilize it properly.

In general, I try not to judge posters too harshly. We're all LSU fans. However,occassionally I stumble across a post so chock full of ignorance that it demands a response. This is one of them.

(1) First, your claims aren't even factually accurate. Saban had two ten win seasons at LSU, not one. The Tigers won thirteen games in 2003 and ten in 2001;

(2) Your argument totally disregards the fact that college football scheduling was in flux during Saban's tenure. The twelve game regular season had not been fully instituted. In 2000, 2001, and 2004, LSU only played 11 games. Adding some overmatched cupcake OOC opponent to the schedule in 2004 likely would have given Saban THREE ten win seasons out of five, a ratio higher than that you cite for Miles;

(3) In five years, Saban secured as many championships as Miles won in twice that time;

(4) Your most conspicuous failing is that you totally disregard historical context. Saban took over an irrelevant program coming off back to back losing campaigns, including a three win season (one win in the SEC), that was twelve years removed from its last SECC and forty years removed from its last NC. By contrast, Miles inherited a program two years removed from an NC and coming off a 9 win season (6-2 in the SEC). These are not even remotely equivalent positions.

If you are going to condemn others as being delusional, you should ensure your own arguments are accurate and intellectually honest.
