That may change on Jan 2nd, when LSU plays Nebraska in the Outback.

Sugar Bowl picks Auburn (ranked higher)
Citrus Bowl picks Florida (ranked higher, beat LSU, won SEC East, don't care they played in Citrus last year)
Outback Bowl picks LSU (next best thing)

Will they be ranked higher after they get killed by Bama?

I actually think we're ranked higher than UF and get Citrus, I'm hoping for VT. That would be a great match up.

I also live in Richmond, VA (VT land) and would love to serve them up another beat down.

Shouldn't we be playing Nebraska in the Sugar Bowl? It's tradition.

We lost to some pretty damn good Nebraska teams. Bad match ups for us back then.

I don't want to play Iowa again. Give us Nebraska.

Usually, but the Outback takes SEC West teams every three years or so.

LSU played in the Outback in 2013.

I was at two of those games. They were a very good football team back in the 80's.

The Citrus bowl doesn't like to take the SEC loser; and the Outback Bowl has a long history of passing over LSU. Those two could easily flip choices.

I always like us to play the traditional (and overrated) powers in bowl games- Nebraska, Texas, Notre Dame, etc. Would love to see a Michigan matchup.

that 6-6 game in the 70s when Nebraska was #1 was one of the loudest ever in Tiger Stadium

The Outback did not pass on us in 2013, and we sold out in terms of our ticket allotment, so I believe that school of thought is over.

I like this... although Nebraska is a shell of what that program used to be.

We had a couple of epic battles with them in the Orange Bowl against some of their greatest teams, once in 1970 and once in 1982. The 1984 and 1986 Sugar Bowls weren't quite so epic though.

ETA: Those years were the seasons, not necessarily the year in which the bowls were played. I can never remember if they were always played on Jan. 1 or sometimes maybe on Dec. 30-31.
