i'm impressed that you spelled amateur correctly. it surprised me because the rest of your post is idiotic. you certainly don't know shite about negotiating coach salaries. you are just one of those "sideline sitters" yelling critisisms and parroting what others say.

It's ridiculous.

The Chavis ordeal is a perfect example. These same posters blame Alleva for not caving to Chavis' contrqct demands, and he leaves. Who's at fault? Joe.

But had he given in and given Chavis what he wanted, some of these same posters would've called him an amateur.

You just can't win with these people. There's plenty to complain about when it comes to Alleva, but giving CPM a raise is not one of them.

UT can outbid anyone on this planet. If they're stupid enough to waste money on PM, so be it.

I don't think Alleva necessary "fell for" anything. If Texas offered Maineri the job and a significantly greater salary, then JA had a decision to make - match or let Maineri walk. Of course, that is assuming that Alleva had confirmation Texas had offered and that the decision to give Maineri a raise wasn't predicated solely on internet rumors.

Texas is an attractive job. One that a coach like Maineri could seriously consider taking. As I said in the other thread, if it was Missouri looking to hire PM, then I would call PM's bluff. However, Texas is a threat that has to be taken seriously even if all PM really wanted was a raise

At least Mainieri flirted with a legitimate school you could make a case to leave for. It was very unlikely but Texas is a big time program with big time resources. You had to take him seriously.

Miles flirted with Arkansas. Yeah okay Les was going to leave LSU after 2012 to coach fricking Arkansas. That's the one Alleva fouled up.

the people on this site who blame alleva for everything honestly don't have a clue.

f king alexander was mostly to blame for the whole miles fiasco. i don't know how that's not obvious to everyone. sure, alleva keeping hush until the season ended was bad. but overall, alleva was just the scapegoat.

now, i certainly don't think alleva is some amazing athletic director. the mid-level sports have done amazing during his tenure. golf, gymnastics, softball, etc. torina was an excellent hire. the big time sports have been mediocre, i guess, compared to how we want them to be. i truly don't believe he had too much say in the hiring of johnny jones. but he'll surely get blamed for his failures.

alleva is decent, in my opinion.

Man,

Texas vacancy has caused 4-5 schools to pony up huge pay raises/extensions

he's pretty close to that.

folks want to be upset for things like him throwing players under the bus is understandable. I just don't see any argument when it comes to results.

Mainieri has been delivering the pizzas for LSU baseball a while now with no pay increase. He's led LSU to 5 straight national seeds.

Mainieri: Pizza guy

Alleva: Papa Johns

Papa: And I already tipped you

Pizza guy: Yup big tip

This should have been obvious for most after McDonnell got his million dollar per year contract. When Texas is getting rejected by multiple coaches, it's naive of our fans to suggest we'll inevitably get someone with a better record than Pawl.

He is about there every year. I hope you realize Kentucky has only won 2 national titles since 98. In 2013 they didn't make the NCAA tourney and lost to Robert Morris in the opening round of the NIT on its home floor.

There was/is some degree of interest by PM,otherwise if wouldn't have met with UT. Sometimes things may look better somewhere else.Aside from the politics, Austin is light years ahead of BR in Qol,and although the facilities are similar, the UT endowment makes recruiting a hell of lot easier.
