That 2006 Florida game will forever haunt LSU fan's dreams.

I think pretty much every conceivable miscue that could happen in a football game happened.

Fumbled kickoff return
Muffed punt return
Fumble on Florida 1-yd line
Punt blocked
Missed FG
3 picks (at least one of which was tipped by the receiver)

And LSU still only lost by 13.

Just saying that there was a time when LSU had 3 championship caliber QBs. Lots of people are saying that LSU never has that. We HAD it in 2006.

Well who recruited 2 out of the 3? Just saying

Yes, you're right. Les never has nor will he ever recruit a leader at LSU.

Everybody knows that the key to LSU winning a national championship is a white quarterback named Matt. We win it every time.

Only Perriloux was recruited by Miles... And we all know what happened to Perriloux

"Perriloux should be scratched from the list because he never was a leader. That's one of Les' problems. He picks athletes, not leaders. A 3-star QB from Texas could take us to the National Championship if they could lead the offense. We have all the weapons. Matt Mauk and Matt Flynn were the generals of their teams and that's why we won. Haven't seen any of that from the QB's as of late. That includes Jerret Lee."

Wish they had a playoff then.

No doubt. That team was steam rolling at the end of the season including a thumping of a Top 10 Notre Dame team in the Sugar Bowl. I do think they would have won a playoff game.

BUT brainfart playcalling at Auburn and the loss to UF kept us away. Gotta play the whole season.

I dunno about "steamrolling", it took OT to beat a miserable Ole Miss late in the year bc the offense once again sputtered.

And against FLA, don't forget the early TD that was called back for a phantom holding penalty. 2006 was a tough year with the refs. Besides Auburn, I recall against Tenn where the Tenn player touched a punt and LSU recovered but refs gave it to Tenn despite replay showing the ball changed trajectory from hitting the Tenn player's arm.

"and the NC be in the Superdome" used to be at the end of that sentence as well.

Yes '06-'08 was going to be Saban's run that we have seen happen at Bama

He was building towards it then, and built it to fruition at Bama.

Yeah the 2005-2007 teams just look different than LSUs more recent teams. They look like Saban teams.

How many players left early in 2005-2007 compared to 2011 to 2014?

Cause Jimbo was our OC and QB coach. He can make a one armed midget a Heisman candidate.

If we swapped QBs with FSU this year I bet both teams would have the same record they do now.
