Agreed but I think these national types are just looking at two main things, being in the same division as the gumps, and our high turnover to the NFL, the past two years particularly.

Let's face it, Bama will be the national darling as long as Saban remains there. Their recruiting and run of success will be tough to match, but if any program is capable of staying with them, it's LSU imo.

And generally speaking, having a high turnover to the NFL is not a bad thing. I think that attracts even more of the high level recruits to come to LSU. Though it might occasionally hit the program hard like last year, LSU will always reload quickly. Les is too good a recruiter in the most talent rich area of the country.

Once LSU beats Bama and ends that current 3 game slide, the national media will quickly change their tune imo.

Love that gif

But yeah, I agree with OP. I think we're setting up well for a nice run the next few years and we have a great staff to get us there. Our success this year will depend a lot on the success of our young offensive talent, but I trust that Cam will get them playing at their best.

If grimes is who we hope he is, LSU offensively will be nasty for years to come. Cam will have plenty of talent to utilize.

This team is loaded with talent, we've had some of the best recruiting I've ever seen in my life time. Louisiana is a hotbed of talent right now. We should dominate for the next 4 to 5 years, as long as Les can keep his current coaching staff intact.

Just can't see LSU being a factor in 2014. Unproven QBs, WRs, DTs and running backs. I think 2015 and 2016 look bright IF and that is a big if, we quit losing all these underclassmen. Its hard to build a foundation when everyone leaves.

I have a feeling that Harris will be a National headliner type player for LSU.

I agree with lots of the comments being made on this..

I hate the Juniors leaving...but hey keep bringing in the 4 and 5 star guys...reload!

15 will be a great year.

We are guaranteed to have Harris, Fournette, White, Robinson, Beckwith, Garrett, Valentine, Bain, Gilmore, Bower, Adams, Dupre, Quinn, Pocic, etc next year. We will be absolutely loaded.

I think this year will look a lot like 2010.

Talking heads have to talk. What they talk about may not be reality-based. Thus, little or no attention needs to be paid to what these kinds of talking heads talk about where LSU is concerned. Just look at the record at the end of the coming season and decide for yourself.

I don't disagree with your main point, but we don't have unproven WRs and RBs. Travin Dural is a stud WR. The others are certainly unproven, but that's normal for colleges to have one stud and a host of talented youngsters ready to emerge. TM and Hilliard are very good SEC quality RB's. You're correct, though, about QB and the DTs. Although the DT position returns one stud, Lacouture, it takes four to man that position, and we need multiple second year guys to emerge.

TM7 single handidly winning what, 4 games alone?

I don't know if we will ever have another player like him. The entire team fed off of him. If he made a play, it was if the entire team grabbed an electric fence.

Which is why I'm stoked he's turned his life around. Good for Tyrann.

At some point....we've got to have some stud juniors in skill positions stick around. Some how some way....it needs to happen if we're going to make a serious run at another NC.
10-win seasons are great and all but the giddiness surrounding them only takes you so far.

Florida State's top skill positions consisted of 1 Freshman, 1 sophomore, 3 juniors and their 3rd WR was a Senior.

Having Collins return was huge. If Ferguson or Jarvis had stuck around then the national narrative would be completely different. Thing is, there's tons of talent at WR and DT to plug in.

LSU might have the most underclassmen leaving early, but it is a growing problem throughout the top tier schools that land the most talented players. I think of it from the Mace/P Diddy perspective: mo' money, mo' problems.

It's been a pretty consistent theme the last 3-4 years. I'm not so sure what these talking heads see either
