With the success of the team over the past 5 years the fans have become too demanding of the program. Losing used to be quite common for our Tigers. I remember a time when this would have been "just an another beat down" at the hands of Florida. Lower your expectations folks. That way you want be so disappointed.

No actually I don't. And one of the reasons for that is I don't let the success or failure of 18 to 22 year old college kids determine whether or not I'm happy.

I think that's a good philosophy for life in general. Americans in general expect too much. LSU fans in particular. I remember going to the Indy Bowl in '97 and being damn happy about it.

I agree to a certain extent---I will never lower my expectations for LSU, BUT I do think we as a fanbase tend to overstate the implications of losses---one loss and some one here are claiming the wheels are falling off the bus! Chill out people!

I'm fine with the loss I don't EXPECT for LSU to lose by 30 points.

you know what i completely agree. It was unrealistic to think that our inexperienced team was going to go into the swamp and beat one of the best teams in the nation (the way they looked last night with those rbs, maybe the best team in the nation). This is a good LSU team, but we were simply not tested. People assumed our defense was amazing because we shut down power offenses in app, nt, auburn, miss state, and people automatically assumed jarret lee was the freakin second coming of christ. That doesn't necessarily mean we have to LOWER OUR EXPECTATIONS, but let's not be completely shocked about the outcome of last nights game. I saw it coming a mile away. Just wait though, the season's not over, and we WILL be playing the Gators again in Atlanta

I think we have alot of fans that let LSU define who they are as human being. You know the type. The folks that have the purple and gold mailbox, send Xmas card pictures of their kids all decked out in Tiger gear, have LSU stickers all over the car, etc... Then the team gets blown out and all of sudden they feel like lesser of a person.

I agree that as a whole, LSU fans HAVE become spoiled..

and with the age of message boards and such, they are more "organzied" about it. It is my one hopeless wish that they are keeping their mealy-mouthed bashing on the board and not acting this way out in public where ever they may all actually live..

I NEVER feel okay with any loss, but they will happen and how YOU re-act to it and what it brings out in you says a lot more about the fan than it does the team, imo....

and,

SFP-- DUDE, you seriouly need to give it a rest... by the number of posts you've put on here today, I thought maybe Jacob Hester had come back to Baton Rouge and was getting cleared to carry the ball next Sat. against USCe.......

ok why not be demanding of a program that just won two national championships? maybe we would let up a lil if we were in vandy's shoes but then again i would never want to be in vandy's shoes

yea expecting 100 percent effort and not being blown out is being spoiled. I know we wont win them all but id like to at least not roll over and die like we did last night.
