What about it? Mett inevitably put us in a position to win, and the defense got slashed and gashed.

He also dug us in a massive hole that put everyone's backs against the wall. I agree the blame should be spread out, though. He made some nice plays in the second half, but our D also forced a couple turnover in the 2nd that helped our cause.

It was 10-0 at halftime.

That isn't a massive hole. See FSU at the half last night.

Sure, LSU moved the ball well and should have been able to put the game away in the first half. He turned it around in the second half, but the defense couldn't stop the run.

Goes to show how weak SEC defenses were this year

15th Nationally... pretty good unless the entire NCAA had a down year.

Without question.

I could have coached some of those studs we've had in the past to greatness. This year, he made a silk purse from a sow's ear.

Except the main thing. Points. Those three interceptions caused a 17+ point differential. Yet the team only lost by 3 points. So yeah that loss is mostly on Mett.

Agree, kinda.
Toughest year for him to match limited talent to his scheme. Got better as year progressed, no doubt.

Really no star on D at all. Either too inexperienced, or not very talented.

Wow thanks for posting this. I had no idea that they did this well statistically. Good job for a young D.

I can play that game too because Ole Miss still put up 27 points.

Team loss.

The 2008 defense wasn't ranked bad either. They were 28th in the country.

That doesn't mean they weren't bad. Just like in 2013.

The 2013 played much better in the second half of the season once the secondary was changed up. Which gives hope for the future.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know how the 2013 defense compared to the defense in 2011 and 2012 with respect to points allowed, yards per game, yards per play, rush yards and pass yards allowed?
I wonder just how bad this years defense was compared to the last couple.

Points allowed (scoring defense): #21 Naionally 4th SEC LINK

Hail Chief.. never understood fans thinking he was the problem, just dealt a bad hand. Seems to blitz less than we might like, but has a good system.
