Chavis' best job so far as a Tiger, considering what all needed to be replaced.

Agreed. Took a little while to get the proper personnel in there, which is understandable.

Goes to show how weak SEC defenses were this year

Or how good the offenses were. LSU was easily the most improved defense throughout the SEC season. I just thought I would bring it up because most people bashed them all year long and failed to see the strides they were really making.

True, but LSU's defense played pretty well minus a few games where they were really bad.

It is shocking when you factor in how much of a perceived drop off there was.

Prob a combination of good offenses and relatively weaker defenses.

The Arky game was a bad showing and left me thinking the D hadn't improved at all.

Besides the Georgia game and the Bama game (second half) I thought they were pretty damn good

Those are all yardage stats. Where is the scoring defense rankings?

I don't totally disagree with the point you are making, but the issue for me with the D this season was the number of big plays they gave up earlier in the season. I saw a huge improvement in safety play over the course of the season.

Even Bama's great defense got gashed by Texas A&M and Auburn. We gashed them for a half but didn't have any points to show for it.

Mett lead a comeback in the second half of the OM game while the defense stayed in the locker room.

There were quite a few really solid QBs in the league this year.

Are you joking? The defense stepped up and stuffed Arkansas in the 4th.

OM game was on the D. Just one 3rd down stop in 2nd half and we win.

What about it? Mett inevitably put us in a position to win, and the defense got slashed and gashed.

One guy put that loss completely on Mett. I would say the whole team is at fault for that one.

Which is why we should be optimistic about next season.
