and only gonna get worse when this season is factored in

Nice job conveniently lumping the two worst years with the second half of Les' tenure, even though they were seasons 4 and 5 of 9

Let's assume we finish 8-5 this year and we divide his coaching at LSU into a first and second half:

1st half:
2005-2009 avg wins- 10.2
2005-2009 avg losses- 3

2010-2014 avg wins- 10.4
2010-2014 avg losses- 2.8

Your cherrypicking of statistics holds no water whatsoever.

No one.

That doesn't mean his success can't be either duplicated or built upon.

Not to put down on those programs but Mac didn't have the opportunity to play those schools and also didn't have the luxury of an extra game like they do today.

They added more sec games not ooc games to the schedule. We play UF every year. When they were good. And none of the coaches coached when the sec won 7 straight titles. They also didn't have scholarship limits. They also didn't have the internet when every school has access to every recruit.

I understand the frustration. But Les is the best football coach LSU has had.

This is exactly what comes to mind when I read the typical "you must not have been a fan in the *insert decade of choice*" comments.

Jordan Jefferson led LSU to one of the most successful seasons in school history. Does that mean there are no better qbs out there?

Better yet...who was the last LSU coach to get shutout by a team who hadn't won an SEC game in two years prior??

I mean, I understand where people are coming from with this, but it's an overly simplistic way of looking at it.

There is always a chance that a hire will work out terribly and we slip into a dark age again. And that's why people preach patience and caution when wanting to tear everything down and bring on someone (or anyone) new.

But, there's always a chance we could hire another Les who maintains a level of consistent level of success we've never seen here, or better yet, someone who leads us to 3-4 titles over the course of a decade.

2005-2007 were teams filled with players that actually played for Saban, that for posted in response to the "Saban effect" i wasnt just cherry picking stats to make Les look bad, he does that on his own.

Yea, if you're referring to the 2011 season, Lee started for more than half the season.

well shite, I guess Saban should give his 2002 Sugar Bowl trophy back to Gerry Dinardo.
