Running away from Oklahoma didn't hold back Troy Aikman

Apples to oranges. Switzer promised Aikman that he would change the OU offense from wishbone to pro-style to satisfy Aikman. He pulled the 'ol bait and switch and reneged on his promise. Aikman broke his leg after his freshman year and decided at that time to transfer.

ohhh,, i get it.. after 2 games where JJ played well first half and a shitty second hlaf, during 2 MEANINGLESS football games... you right competition for qb at LSU is over, taken by a guy with 2 games expereince.

There are going to be some pissed off/dissapointed/crawfishing/ assholes on this board if JJ doesnt have SEC leading numbers next season.. almost feel bad for the guy.

Judging by Lee's last outing against ole miss 1-6 36 yds 1 pick 6 in his 8th start. I think garrett could push and do the same as lee.

lee is not going anywhere he knows he will be playing in the two qb set up. it would be in shep and lsu interest to redshirt he will still practice with the team and have time to learn the scheme before he has to step on the field. by that time the two we have now will be juniors.

The original post makes a lot of sense. Too many people here want to make JL dissapear as if it would magically make the results from '08 go with him. LSU failed, if 8-5 can be called a failure, as a team. No one person should be blamed for the dissapointment we all feel. JJ has looked promising but is still rough around the edges and Shepard is the unknown quantity with tons of upside that can only be enhanced by collegiate level coaching. JL, at this time, may be more suited for a backup role...but don't make the mistake of underestimating his talent or the motivation that he will bring to the table in '09. If you don't believe this then why do they hand out 'comeback player of the year' awards. Only time will tell.

Amazing what time reveals. I remember people were saying Lee would beat out Perrilloux because he was more accurate and a student of the game. Now people want to diminish the fact that a true freshman in only two starts looked better than a rs freshman with 8 starts under his belt. The competition should be open but I believe JJ has earned the first look. If i see Lee running the option with charles scott to start the season,,,i will vomit.

Thank God Matt Flynn didn't have this attitude.

Well when Lee becomes a 4th year junior then the situation would be the same. Flynn could've left in 2004 when JR beat him out. Luckily he didn't. He stuck it out and see how it turned out. Hopefully Lee does the same.

How do you "earn" anything in two starts... not to meniton losing one and playing poor in both second halves.?

I agree with you about 1 time out of 100 posts however this is it

this proves 2 points,
1) there are some stupid, STUPID fuking people that post here
2) too many "fans" are always looking to the next best thing... winning does that to you...and bandwagoners. if JJ struggles these same tards will be the first calling for RS.

Yes it would be nice if Lee stayed in case JJ gets hurt. But barring an injury, Lee probably wont play much. So if Lee is cool with being a backup, then please Lee by all means stay.

Absolutely. If JJ implodes or gets hurt, Lee will probably get another chance.

We need Lee to win the starting job. If he can beat J.J. and Shepard out for the job, that has to be a good thing!

well according to many of the "un-blinded" fans JJ is clearly better, and RS,,, i mean frick, since he's the greatest HS recruit ever than obv he's gonna win the heisman... wow if JL beats them two out then holy shite, hes a good fuking QB..........or according to Doc, racists are involved .

Did I seriously have to type that sarcastic post out for you?

Actually I wasnt even replying to you. But now I will.

Absolutely. An objective observer cannot reasonably claim otherwise.

Hopefully, although those are your words, not mine. Would that disappoint you if he won the Heisman?

Yes he would be a good QB. Except that he is not a good QB and will not beat JJ out.
quote:

or according to Doc, racists are involved

It's a reasonable assumption, since there is no other rational reason for wanting Lee to play over JJ.

you people act like you never of Chris Garrett and Andrew Hatch. All this arguing about J Lee as if there would be no capable back up to J Jefferson if Shep isn't ready for that role. JL got his shot and we all saw what he could do. Granted he will improve and could possibly vastly improve but Chis Garrett brings a lot of size and a strong arm and will be here in the fall competing for a back up role at QB. Hatch also has shown that he could be a serviceable backup.
