24 in the regular season. 1in the SECT, 2 in the NCAA. So 27 overall

Let's say Martin leaves, Mickey comes back, we sign Newman and Simmons is as good as we think he will be.

And we achieve what you indicate above. Would this be a satisfactory result. We'd again have improved from the previous year.

A sweet 16 would have me a bit upset but I wouldn't be calling for CJJ's head like some would.

i think we will be better, 30 wins is a lot. I think high 20s unless we really make a run in the NCAAT

Some will always call for CJJ's head short of a Final Four, and maybe some even then if it ended badly like Brady's Final Four.

I think CJJ will get more than a fair chance. He's got a lot of friends behind the scenes that will make sure of that.

For me, progress is what we want, and his recruiting has made that possible and for some that is enough.

How much progress should we expect? Is it enough progress? Is it in line with the talent/experience on hand? Those are legitimate questions in judging CJJ and his legacy.

I think a big issue with the extreme inconsistency in level of play this year has a lot to do with the inability of the players to be motivated to play game in and game out. I don't think that will be an issue with Simmons and hopefully as what we expect to be our best player, it is contagious.

Agree all the way. Simmons is one of the most confident guys I've seen in over 5 decades of observations. His mentality is he simply refuses to lose, and when they do lose a game next year, I have to believe he will school some team mates behind closed doors. This kid is sensational; Best passing big man since Magic in my opinion.

I think we win 3 as well. You guys ar football fans. Bball is a different animal.

Simmons and Blakeney are talents that we haven't seen in awhile. True game changers. Will make an immediate impact. If you add Malik to the mix. We win 30.

Watched him play 2 or 3 times and I'm very excited about what I saw.

I hate to over-expect, but even if he does not live up to expectations I think he'll still be a very, very good college player.

Randy Rosetta compares him to Danny Manning. I think that is a good comparison in style. I also see a bit of John Williams, but his body type is not quite as mature and defined as Big John.

I think we'd go 23-8 IF Ben Simmons adapts and contributes majorly by SEC season.

"Our inside presence will be limited to what Simmons and Victor can do and we'll need to rely on our guards to carry the team."
George, Ben Simmons is already adapted, Sir. Like a very select few true freshmen, Maravich(though limited to freshman games he was obviously ready)Macklin, Williams, Jackson and Oneal, Mr. Simmons will dazzle us in what is likely a one and done scenario. He will lift the play of his teammates as the aforementioned stalwarts did. As for carrying the team, again that will be Simmons, especially in close games, regardless of who returns.

The development of the bench players will determine the level of success. They need to have a rotation of 8-9 players that can actually contribute on offense/defense. Our 7th man (Malone) provided absolutely nothing which is pretty ridiculous when you think about it.

Our 7th man in 2006 was Ben Voogd at 12 mins a game and 1 pt. per game. Our 8th man was Magnum Rolle at 8 mins per game and 2 pts. per game. In fact I think going back through history of our teams that made the deepest tournament runs most were short on depth.

So the 8-9 man rotation is not the be all and end all as the measure of what a team has to have to be successful. But sure, you would rather have that to guard against injury, foul trouble and the like.

And I think we'll probably have that next year.

Let's see exactly who those 8-9 are and how CJJ utilizes them next year.

Im thinking it is likely to be TQ, Hornsby, Blakenly, Simmons, Mickey then Patterson is 6th man off the bench to replace a guard and Victor Davis is the 7th man being the first big off the bench. Gray would likely be the 8th man, Epps 9 and Malone/Baby bridge 10.

that is a fairly talented group right there and anything we get from Gray, malone and baby bridge is nice. Epps and Malone need to gain some serious weight in muscle.

Big Elbert is also hanging around as a possible big off the bench but I can't imagine we expect alot out of him. I think Epps and Patterson have the best chance for a TQ like jump in playing ability.

Playing the numbers game, if we sign Newman, Martin leaves and Mickey stays...if I'm counting correctly we're 2 over the limit? Who goes?

if Newman comes then I'm guessing Gray is the odd man out. I don't think we would push two bigs out. Then it would come down to baby bridge, Malone, and Elbert. I could see Elbert being sent off to juco. Malone could be a possible one as well though and losing him wouldn't really cause a big stir among high school coaches.

We'd be right at 13. We had 11 on scholarship this year, Odo graduates, Martin leaves and Mickey stays giving us 9 scholarships already taken up next year. We'd have 4 to give out to Simmons, Blakeney, Newman, and Victor.

Elbert is an interesting case. We started him the first few games of the year, then outside of a couple of 1 minute appearances in garbage time nothing.

I've heard he refused to go in a game at garbage time shortly after he was demoted from the lineup (not sure if true) and that may have put him in the doghouse, I don't know.

He also has some work to do mobility and agility-wise, as even with all the weight he lost he still looked almost geriatric at times he labored to move so much.

He was fairly highly recruited. Not sure if he's unhappy or not.
