What does "getting looks" really mean? Hundreds of guys "get looked at" every year. That doesn't really carry much weight.

Looking at our entire roster from last season, Ben and Blakeney are the only ones you can say with confidence they are NBA talent. And even Blakeney has a ways to go. Right now he predicted to be a 2nd rounder next year.

TQ & Gray are not predicted to be drafted.
Blakeney is slotted as a 2nd rounder next year and Victor isn't predicted to be drafted at all next year.

Josh couldn't perform with any consistency for Johnny. I don't think you should count him as a JC success. Shavon was a good team player.

Josh wasn't as big a player here as some hoped, but he was a solid contributor. Definitely goes in the "success" column of JC players.

You have to remember- they are JC for a reason.

Garrett Temple wasn't drafted. Reports say that Josh Gray is showing really well in his tryouts, and most think/thought TQ had NBA talent. If Victor improves from basically what was his freshman season, who knows. Again, we had the talent, we just didn't have coaching and leadership from the top.

Gray has individual skill, but I just don't know how he fits on a "team". You could tell he was used to being "the man" all of his life, and struggle at LSU when he couldn't be the focal point. How many 3 on 1 breaks did we see him fail to score on when he selfishly rather than making the easy pass to a teammate.

Last year's team had MORE than enough talent to win the SEC and make a NCAAT run. Not making the tournament was simply inexcusable. People throw around the phrase "playground basketball", but LSU's style of play is about as close as you will get to that at the D-1 level. No one knew how or cared enough to defend, and the offense was basically just 5 guys out there trying to figure out how to score. There was little structure or rhyme/reason for anything they did.

Post presence or not, replacing a #1 pick is a step down no matter how you want to spin it.

Overall, sure. We could be better defensively this season than we were last season though if Reath produces.

Epps is not and will not be a big. Some of yall really need to understand he is just a tall 3 at best.

In your opinion, what does Epps do better that makes him more of a 3 than a 4? Just asking because you don't really see a whole lot of 6'9", 220lb Small Forwards in college

You're overstating the talent level on the team for starters.

What, then, is Jones good at? It's clearly not in-game coaching. Now, it appears he isn't even good at recruiting. We're going to rely on Victor, Epps and a completely unproven JUCO guy for our post presence?

I didn't say we were devoid of talent. But we also didn't have 5 NBA caliber players on our team either.

Offensively, yeah we are going to take a step back as far as scoring in the post with the loss of Simmons.

Defensively, I think we can be better. I say can because obviously Reath is very much a wild-card.

But I think a Victor/Reath front court has the potential to be better defensively than a Simmons/Victor front court where Victor is playing out of place.

How do you figure? We've been horrible defensively every year under Jones and are losing two of our "best" perimeter defenders. Plus we (presumably) still have no rim protector to mask our inevitably horrible fundamental on-ball defense. I'm just not ready to assume Reath will be the next Mickey or anything near.

I think we should just let The Bagman and
GoodOleLess just change jobs with one another. I don't think an ounce of coaching knowledge would be lost on either job. It would be a helluva sight watching GoodOleLess rah-rahing those hoops players

Just read on Twitter Darcy Malone will graduate and move on.

Thank God

Com'on Man, You really think Darcy was the issue with the LSU Basketball team ?? Try on for size Tim Quarterman and Benjamin Simmons ... No Heart and Not a Team Player neither player had much of those qualities. Don't start blaming a kid who wasn't developed and Never played, k

I was referring to our defense in the post. And Reath is supposed to be a rim protector. Again, he's a wild-card so we'll see, but that's the hope.

Nobody is assuming he will be a Jordan Mickey when it comes to blocking shots but it's not a stretch to think he can improve our numbers from this past season which were awful.
