Yea we have a few teams really pulling the average down, but the mid level to top is decent.

Yeah the SEC has 3 teams in the 200's of the RPI. Don't think I've ever seen that.

Their final 3 opponents are all ranked above them. Winning two out of three will push their RPI into the high seventies which will assure them of an NIT bid regardless of what happens in the SECT.

Here is an interesting site I found. It projects that if we were to win our final 3 games, our RPI would be 61.

Depth issue more than anything.

I disagree with the sentiment that we have to win the conference tournament. The SEC may be down, but it still has some serious influence. Putting all your eggs in the RPI basket is ridiculous.

If LSU gets 22-23 wins they likely sneak in. Go ahead and bitch about it now if you want, but that's one of the benefits of being in a major conference

The SEC sucks at basketball...the numbers bear it out...just "being in the SEC" has no bearing on anything.

Ole Miss wins over 20 games every year and they never make the NCAA tournament. You do realize the SEC is the 8th best conference, right?

Ole miss I think finished over .500 once in 5 years in confernce and that was 9-7.

No one is arguing a barely .500 from bad conf could sneak in. But 11-7 playing hot at right tine could.

Yea 22 wins

I was reading LSUtoOmaha's post when I decided to respond haha.

I think if we win out minus SECCG we have a slight chance of getting in, depending on who we beat in the tourny. Still a chance but not strong.

We will be on bubble talk which is all we can ask. If you're on Tue bubble you have a.chance. that's why I disagree with people saying no way outside of tourny

I 100% agree that we dont HAVE to win the SECCG. That being said, I only see our chances being at about 20% even if we win out - SECCG so I wouldnt want to get peoples hopes up.

So question is will LSU bid for one?

That would be a great opportunity to get some of the band wagoners to hop back on. Would provide a great deal of energy going into next season and would be just what the program needs IMO. If we make the NIT, LSU would be foolish to not submit a bid.

We will certainly bid for one unless there is a scheduling complication with women's basketball, from my understanding.

Not at all. The SEC is downright terrible this year. The committee knows this.

A lot of bracketologiest are starting to think the SEC can get 4 or even 5 in. Really a pretty big turnaround in the last week. LSU is still nowhere near bubble, but I have heard Florida, Tenn, Kentucky, Missouri, and even Alabama getting a look at a possible birth.
