LSU Basketball Pre-season # 39

The LSU basketball team is ranked #39 in Rivals pre-season ratings. The Tigers are projected to win at least 20 games and earn an NCAA tourney bid.
Chris Johnson receives rave reviews. The impact of his abscence for most of the first half of the SEC schedule last year and the pivotal role he played in the Tigers' late season surge is duly noted.
LSU is ranked ahead of SEC brethren Kentucky, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Vanderbilt in the top 64. Expect Florida and Tennessee to be the only SEC teams ranked higher.
If the experienced Tigers can remain healthy and receive positive contributions from freshmen Warren, Graham, Bass and Harris they will be dancing in March.

Way too much love for us pre-season IMO.

You forgot to mention the most important ingredient...NEW LEADERSHIP from the coaching end of the bench

Possibly, but this is an experienced team with some talented players. They should be in the mix for a tourney bid seeded in the 7 to 12 range.

Remains to be seen, but the return of a healthy Tasmin Mitchell and Chris Johnson will have the most positive effect.

this year, hopefully, will give us something to be excited about. next year could be rough but i dont want to think about that now
chris johnson deserves all the rave reviews. its amazing to see how he has gone from a skinny freshman who didnt know what was going on to a skinny all sec caliber player. would have been nice if he would have taken a redshirt in 05/06

Chris Johnson is a testimony to working hard, waiting patiently behind talented players and being ready when the opportunity presents itself.
The article also notes that Alex Farrar has already made a positive impression on Trent Johnson.
Both Farrar and Johnson were ridiculed as throw away recruits early in their careers. They don't look so bad today.

Likely not well unless we pull in some good out of state guys for 2009. LA Talent = non existent for 2009.

i always knew CJ could be something special, especially with those long arms and that sweet jumper. i can see people making a case for farrar since there are kids all over louisiana and texas who could have gotten that scholarship just as good if not better than farrar, but he's on our team and has done well when called upon. not surprised to hear he has impressed johnson, he's a hard worker

honeslty i havent seen or heard much but you can say its still early. butch and brady had tommy mason griffin and brandon mitchell committed for next season but that is over. like someone said, its going to take a couple of out of state gems like harris/graham. there are so many seniors on this years team that there will be a number of open scholarships, i wont be shocked if we add a couple of juco guys

Trent Johnson likens him to the Lopez twins he coached at Stanford.
It would be nice to see Garret Green begin to emerge as he could be an impact player in the 2010 season.

i think people will be pleasantly surprised with storm warren. graham will win the fans over with his style of play and harris could be the next CJ

Those four freshmen will be the nucleus of next season's team so hopefully ready to play recruits will be signed and there won't be any backsliding.
