enjoyed watching the game last night but to be coming off a very good season, that was pitiful looking last night.

not disputing that at all. Has nothing to do with LSU not being a basketball school though

Army has a good football tradition

Cmon man. When's the last time Army had one of the greatest players in the history of CFB?

Shaq played at LSU a short 15 years ago plus I believe LSU is second all time in SEC championships and has appeared in more Final Fours than:

Tenn
Vandy
Bama
Aubie
UGA
Ole Miss
Miss St
UF (yeah look it up)
SCar

and maybe Arky - 2 as a SEC school

eta: UF/LSU tied in Final4 appearances, must have forgot a UF one

I see what you mean. I love the tradition. Shaq, SEC championships, and a recent Final Four. All awesome!

I just contend if we were a basketball school, or better put, a school with good basketball fans, we wouldn't look like a JC school one year removed from an SEC championship.

What was baseball's attendance prior to the early 90s? LSU wasn't born a baseball school.

What was LSU football attendance from 1989-1994? Maybe LSU isn't a football school either.

What was LSU's basketball attendance from let's say 1980-1991?

I would say LSU fans follow the winning programs and follow them well. Skip built a great program for baseball, but actual attendance dropped when smoke was driving it into the ground. TJ will build a consistent competitor and that will help attendance a lot more than having one good team every few years.

To watch them beat us by thirty! This is just not the year for LSU bball and Trent knew that coming in. Next years team will be much more competitive.

I went to a Bama LSU game in 83-84 I think on a Saturday and you could have counted all the fans in the stands on two hands

seriously

people get way too caught up in this attendance thing. every school in america is the same way. no one wants to take time out of their day to go see a shitty team play. you can call it fair weather or not, but lsu is no different than any other school would be in the same situation except for maybe kentucky, duke, and carolina

No, it's really not. It has nothing to do with LSU basketball being successful as opposed to the fanbase being supportive. In this day and age, most fans will go see football, baseball, and basketball in that order. just look at this msg board...there are still more Miles and Crowton threads compared to basketball threads. there are about to be more baseball threads and the season doesn't even kick off for another month and SEC play doesn't start for another month.

LSU is talent-wise and tradition-wise a top 4 SEC basketball school and arguably 2nd best after UK. Fan support wise and "town abuzz" wise, we rank at the bottom with Auburn and Georgia. There's no arguing that.

a few years ago when smoke was here and small crowds were very common, was lsu not a baseball school anymore? during a good basketball year the buzz around lsu basketball is alot greater than baseball.

6 CWS titles>>>>>>>>>>> 0 basketball national titles.

The baseball team will draw 6 K on a May weekend even if they are playing average ball. Basketball draws ONLY after they are playing great and baseball opener gets sold out vs. basketball opener being 5 K.

I know a lot of people who are LSU baseball fans only - sit by them at the games - and they could really care less about football. There are plenty of them...same types who go to Omaha, hell or high water. I don't know anyone who is an "LSU basketball only" fan.
