At what point in your mind did you un-officially say "Whelp, that's it for the big dance. We done!".

Don't get me wrong here. I'm not saying all hope is lost. We all still cheer our boys on and hope like heck for a miracle. I'm asking more about expectations. When did they crash?

I think it was the USCe game for me. Ben got shaken pretty bad by that raucous crowd and you could tell. The lack of effort on defense and the multitude of fouls these guys have shown in the past month are horrendous, and not indicative of a tournament team.

Considering we had preseason hopes of a final 4, it over.

Well, even if we lose out, its not "officially" over until we lose out of the SEC tournament without winning the championship. So I would assume then.

They came back right after that game and beat a good A&M team. Even against Bama they played with effort. They just had an absolutely horrible game plan on defense and could not get a shot to fall. Something happened after that game that led to the team quitting at Tenn. That's when you could say the season was "unofficially" over.

Even though the loss to Bama was disappointing, LSU was STILL in position to win the SEC and get in to the NCAA tournament. Despite that, they completely mail it in against a bad Tenn. team who was without their only real scoring threat. With so much still on the line and a great matchup for them, they for all intents and purposes just quit?

To me, that marked the end of this season and what should be the Jones era at LSU. It's one thing to get outplayed. It's one thing to get out-coached. But when a team outwardly quits with all their season goals still within reach? That's a program breaker if change doesn't come.

If we fall out of the top 4. We really need that double bye in the SEC tournament.

This whole season has been a shite show and has been "over" for quite a while. Delusional expectations from some also make the meltdown harder. Johnny Jones is terrible and I feel pretty certain we've seen his best. It's not going to get any better.

You do realize we are 1 game out of first place in the SEC, right?

It's kind of wait and see. But if we don't make the tourney, I expect Jones to be fired followed by Joe Alleva. The Board of Supervisors must recognize this for what it is: The turning point. They need to open the checkbook, go get a worth a shite AD and then assign him the task of making over this basketball program.
