Anyone feel like compiling the heights and weights for the projected starting rosters? My bammer roommate keeps saying we are undersized. Thus far, I've just denied it and said we are faster regardless...

Go nuts brah. The only spot we're undersized is LB.

If you kill your roommate, you can't lose the argument.

Dont have the weight comparisons but show your gump roommate this article from the Wall Street Journal on LSU's defense and how they were built for speed... Interesting read and it addresses how we recruited speed over size over the past few years

I agree with this but remember Bama is playing a 3-4 so they need bigger LBs to take on blockers.

Wrote this a week ago, and it's only on weight

quote:

Alabama's front 7 averages about 25 lbs more per man, than LSU's front 7.

Alabama's front 4 (counting Upshaw) averages 21 lbs more per man, than LSU's front 4

Alabama's Offensive Line averages out at 312 lbs, LSU's Offensive Line (counting Lonergan) averages at 308 lbs.

Alabama's front 4 (294) vs. LSU's O-Line (308) = 14 lb difference

LSU's front 4 (273) vs Alabama's O-Line (312) = 39 lbs difference

Think I used Rivals Depth Chart

Alabama players used:
Jones 6-5
Warmack 6-3
Vlachos 6-1
Steen 6-3
Fluker 6-6

Square 6-3
Williams 6-4
Chapman 6-1
Harris 6-3
Upshaw 6-2
Hightower 6-4
Johnson 6-3

LSU Players used:
Faulk 6-6
Hurst 6-6
Dworaczyk 6-6
Blackwell 6-4
Lonergan 6-4

Trent could gash us up the middle if their O-line out-powers us, but the number of TFL and short gains this season attributed to our speed and quickness on the D-line makes me confident that they won't be overmatched.

OFFENSE
LSU QB - Jarrett Lee - 6'2, 207
Alabama QB - A.J. McCarron - 6'4, 205

LSU RB - Spencer Ware - 5'11, 225
Alabama RB - Trent Richardson - 5'11, 224

LSU TE #1 - DeAngelo Peterson - 6'5, 243
Alabama TE #1 - Michael Williams - 6'6, 269

LSU TE #2 - Mitch Joseph - 6'5, 261
Alabama TE #2 - Brad Smelley - 6'3, 229

LSU WR #1 - Rueben Randle - 6'4, 207
Alabama WR #1 - Marquis Maze - 5'10, 180

LSU WR #2 - Odell Beckham - 5'11, 175
Alabama WR #2 - Darius Hanks - 6'0, 185

LSU LT - Chris Faulk - 6'6, 316
Alabama LT - Barrett Jones - 6'5, 311

LSU LG - T-Bob Hebert - 6'3, 280
Alabama LG - Chance Warmack - 6'3, 320

LSU C - Patrick Lonergan - 6'4, 300
Alabama C - William Vlachos - 6'1, 294

LSU RG - Will Blackwell - 6'4, 303
Alabama RG - Anthony Steen - 6'3, 303

LSU RT - Alex Hurst - 6'6, 329
Alabama RT - D.J. Fluker - 6'6, 335

In a two tight end and two wide receiver set, LSU averages 6.28 feet tall and 258.7 pounds. LSU's offensive line averages 6.38 feet tall and 305.6 pounds.

In a two tight end and two wide receiver set, Alabama averages 6.21 feet tall and 259.6 points. Alabama's offensive line averages 6.30 feet and 312.6 pounds, however.

DEFENSE
It's hard to compare a 3-4 and a 4-3 player to player, so I just totaled up all of the numbers.

LSU's defense averages 6.14 feet tall and 269 pounds. The LSU defensive line averages 6.38 feet tall and 269 pounds.

The Alabama offensive line averages 6.30 and 312.6 pounds, the LSU defensive line averages 6.38 and 269.

Alabama's defense averages 6.20 feet tall and 249.5 pounds. The Alabama defensive line averages 6.22 feet tall and 304.6 pounds.

The LSU offensive line averages 6.38 feet tall and 305.6 pounds, the Alabama defensive line averages 6.22 feet tall and 304.6 pounds.

The biggest statistical shocker I saw here was that Alabama's starting eleven on defense outweigh LSU's starting eleven by over twenty pounds.

Going with Starters, at least for the actual game. Is Lonergan back? If so, Herbert for D?

Heh, just go with that guy's post

Current LSU game notes depth chart shows some different weights:

Peterson = 235
Joseph = 268
Faulk = 325
Hebert = 303
Lonergan = 305
Hurst = 340

Also, Russell Shepard is WR #2 at 185 lbs.
