Coming to Atlanta? Your alumni chapter has put together a quick guide with useful information and links. You can download the guide for easy printout too.

LSU ATLANTA'S BOWL FAN GUIDE

Plan to join us at the "Bash Buzz" Party on Tuesday the 30th at Engine 11 in Midtown, just one mile from the downtown hotels.

Also check out out other parters that are rolling out the P&G carpet for LSU fans. For pregame drinking and partying, Sidebar is our "Official Bowl Tailgate Bar" just four blocks from the Dome.

BTW...if you have any questions about getting around, directions, or anything in the guide post it up here. I'll try to help with an answer if I can.

Since this is staying on top maybe others with the same question will find an answer easily.

We have a room at the Wyndam downtown. Is it a far walk to game or should I try to drive? Is the area a safe area? We are planning to go to engine 11 also. Thanks

It's not very far, but try to walk with a group. I haven't spent much time in that area lately, but it used to be a marginal neighborhood. Not truly bad, but not somewhere to be alone either. A decent sized group should do fine.

Enjoy yourselves. Come early to see the aquarium, etc. Take the elevator ride to the top of the Plaza. Buy a drink in the revolving bar and watch Atlanta rotate below you. See you at fan fest.

If are you at the Wyndham on Piedmont downtown, you have a few blocks to walk but that is the best way to get to the Dome. Just take Andrew Young International straight to Centennial Olympic Park and the CNN Center/Ga. Dome is just on the other side. It's less than a mile but you do have a couple blocks of uphill walking at first from your hotel. The main downtown area isn't that dangerous but going in a group is always good to do. Keep your car parked at the hotel on game day. You could take a cab but with the New Year's eve/bowl/regular business traffic you won't save much time and parking spaces will be hard to get and not cheap. Very little street parking available.

Great! You should definitely drive or take a cab to the Engine 11 party. That would be a real hike in the dark and takes you through an area between downtown and Midtown where there's not a lot of pedestrians or retail/restaurant businesses.

From the Wyndham, just take Piedmont north (it is one way) about a mile (passing by the Civic Center where the Tut Exhibit is) and turn left on North Avenue and Engine 11 will be a couple of blocks on the right. If the parking lot right next to it is full (only about 50 spaces) go to West Peachtree, turn right and look for parking along there or make a right back up to Peachtree St. and you will find lots and street parking in various nearby streets as you will be in the Fox Theater area. There is plenty of parking within 2 blocks of Engine 11 and there is no show at the Fox that night.

Getting back, just take Peachtree back south to Ellis, turn left and then left back onto Piedmont to the hotel.

The hotel staff should be helpful about getting around too.

Hope this helps.

Gibney's decided not to participate in our guide this year. They supported us in the past and welcome LSU fans. This year Sidebar offered a portion of their sales to our scholarship endowment fund and they are also big SEC fans and are psyched to have LSU fans coming through.

As a consumer you are free to make whatever informed choices you want. I suggest you start your day on the other side of Peachtree, then gravitate by Sidebar for you final game "preparation." Sidebar will play LSU music which the other place did not. Also, Gibney's had folks hanging out the doors so there will be plenty of LSU fans to fill three places like this. So drop by Max Lager's too on your way LOL.

I don't know what to advise you about this issue. Given that the times we live in are characterized by change moreso than any other period in history, maybe you were born in the wrong era.

J/K. Have fun wherever you go. Just know the places we recommend have shown demonstrated support for LSU. Also know that we have refused to include some businesses that we did not feel would be good to recommend.

I think there is an NCAA and/or SEC rule prohibiting alcohol sales, but I also seem to recall that beer sales may be allowed in the suites area. But definitely not in general seating.
