look buddy lets agree to disagree. I gave him his props for the SEC game. Yes he played a hell of a game that he started in. But no wheres in that season did we need him for a "Dual QB System", we just needed one qb for each of those games.

We've never had a dual QB system under Miles other than a few downs or a single series now and again. Now we had one under Saban but we probably don't want to discuss that...

this can be true, but i am curious what you would consider the Jefferson Lee fiasco. Just one massive experiment gone wrong?

Switching QBs due to injuries and suspensions isn't really a coaching decision.

So besides Flynn and RP when else did we have a dual QB system that could be "never ending"?

I dont know what I think about this. Whats Jennings rated in NCAA 14?

being serious im all for jennings getting snaps so we arent breaking in a completely new QB next year again. I dont want him to just go in a run but actually run the offense

In the eyes of LSU fans (including the local Baton Rouge media), the best quarterbacks in LSU history are Y.A. Tittle and whoever the current backup is. And not necessarily in that order.

After a while they should just label every year this, seeing it seems the news never thinks we have the "right" guy in at all times.

But, perhaps more significantly, the Tigers seem to be toying with the idea of implementing a package that uses Jennings’ versatility as a complement to Mettenberger’s pocket passing.

Whether Jennings is going to see a few snaps in the season opener against TCU won’t be known until sometime after kickoff on Aug. 31, but it does appear to be a possibility.

Offensive coordinator Cam Cameron wasn’t about to let on about plans for Jennings, and with good reason.

“In an opening game, a true freshman, not that he couldn’t play, but why would you (play him)?” Cameron said. “And strategically, if we were going to do it, I wouldn’t tell you anyway.”

To me thats Cam saying NO, but for some reason the news wants it every year.

What do yall think, keep trying something that never worked for us before, or stick with the guy that has been getting the praise from "his" offense.

ETA: I am not saying someone that can run and throw... I am saying that we do not need two QBs in a game.......

I think it's pretty clear that Mett is the starter, and this is not a dual QB system. Jennings and Mett will not be splitting time down the middle like Jefferson and Lee. What they are going to do is get a very talented freshman QB, who is now #2 on the depth chart, playing experience, so he will be ready in case Mett suffers injury this year, and next year when he likely takes over. Jennings will likely have certain packages where he is able to use his running ability, as a change of pace in certain games. Nothing wrong with that if it helps the team win, but Mett is clearly the starter.

oh yeah that worked great, i remember how Perrilloux went on to have an amazing career too...

That is stupid....Perrilloux's transgressions and subsequent dismissal from the team don't take anything away from the fact that the dual QB system did work with Flynn and Perrilloux.

My prediction on the season is they will bring jenning's in on a package of play's and he will shine because he that talented and LSU have the best offensive collection of player's in the country. Then we get to the georgia game and our offense will stall for a few drives. They won't hesitate to put jennings in and he will shine against georgia because of the same reasons I stated above. Truth is you can't deny our offense is more dangerous with a qb that can scramble. I had a dream of this kid juking someone in the backfield then breaking toward the sideline pointing at odell to go up the field before releasing a 60 yard touchdown pass. It's coming so get your ready.

both florida and LSU won a championship with a young QB who had special packages designed.. and both had excellent senior starting QB's.

just saying.

Yeah, like when he just kept sending the same style, like they all came from the same factory, physically, pocket passer in there, then benching them, ala Spurrier - it appears he learned from that experiment and doesn't do much of that, anymore.

LSU and "the Never Ending Dual QB System"

The only times we had a "2 QB System" were the times that JJ stunk so bad that he should have lost his job or had lost his job sue to suspension. The 2 QB system was just there to get JJ in the game.

only if he can make the throws. If he cant, id rather have Mett's arm and a bad-arse ground and pound.

Yep. I seem to remember a nice little roll out the entire defense thought was a bootleg then RP threw a beautiful TD pass to a wide open receiver which made my special purpose all tingly. I think it was Va Tech.

ETA: Yep.

I'd just personally rather have mett right now. It's his time to shine. It's just if the kid gives us a better chance to win then les will play him hands down. I seen enough of him in the spring game to know he can throw. He already has more pocket awareness and poise than mettenberger. The future is bright either way.

Cam loves athletic QBs, especially at the college level. I'll be shocked if Jennings doesn't get some snaps vs. TCU. Cam also didn't let anyone know that Antwaan Randle El was starting his redshirt freshman year at Indiana. Randle El threw for 300-plus yards and 3 TDs and rushed for 80 yards and 3TDs in his first game and wasn't announced as the starter until pregame.

Mettenberger will obviously start but I think Jennings will get snaps very early in the season. As others mention, it forces defenses to prepare for more packages. He also wants to get him quality, pressure-filled snaps this year with him a possible starter next season.
