Eliminating the $40 gameday parking would be a start since a lot of spots go unused.

I still don't get how the total seating capacity is such a moving target. They know exactly how many suites they are adding, exactly how many club level seats and general admission seating they are adding including standing room only. How many people can fit into the suites? My math gives me 4,900 seats not including the suites. At this point with construction underway plans had to have been finalized and permitted. All the framing has been set or is being set so the foot print is set. How could it change that much while its under construction, that is at least without significantly costly change orders? It does indeed sound like a mess to me.

I suppose this must be the same sort of person who prefers watching porn on the HD to actually having sex. Inexplicable.

Until you added your note, there was nothing about fans not showing up.

the original post definitely contained a sentence about the administration realizing parking problems is causing people to not show up.

TAD

is this just a misspelling of TAF, or is there some other organization that is involved in this expansion? You have it in 3 times, so I'm not so sure it's supposed to be TAF

LSU admits Fans are not showing up!!

This week I attended an event in TS (Bill Lawton Room)and TAD presented Stadium Expansion project details and updates.

They know they are taking a risk and they know they have to fix other things (parking, etc.)to bring back fans. They also know that adding these new seats will make the parking worse, but they have identified 1500 parking slots on north campus to mitigate mess.

Why not make room for more parking areas off campus and provide a shitload of shuttles, busses, vanpools, etc. so people won't have to walk a mile+ to campus ????

I walk a mile to campus.

I park at my condo and walk.

People park all the way up Burbank and Nicholson.

Walking is good for you unless you're 500 pounds and a heart attack risk. Then it's only good for you in a controlled environment.

i have been completely lambasted over saying essentially the same thing. virtual reality is trumping reality with what seems like a growing amount of people (or virtual people; who knows).

it shouldn't be hard to come up with an estimate of the economic impact of people not showing up...

more rear ends in seats, more concessions sold as well as other stuff on campus...someone should explain to the local governments how much tax revenue they're losing due to their lack of cooperation and short-sighted attitudes toward infrastructure improvement...

PRIORITY 1 - MAKE IT EASIER TO GET TO/FROM CAMPUS AND TO PARK

they have looked at adding parking garages in 4 different studies (1st study was done back in 1965) but there is some major disagreement on the location of these garages and that's the reason why no decision has been made till date.

They also mentioned that they don't want to have the biggest screens in the nation (mentioned Mississippi State screen) and therefore went with two(2)HD screens that will be placed on either sides of the premium suites.

Thank God. I know I don't speak for most people when I say that I absolutely despise the loud, commercial blasting monstrosities at Jerryworld, Starkville, and Austin.

Shocked they opted on the 1500 seats vs plastering some giant billboards on the roof

Do they plan on plowing some of the "hood" on N. Roosevelt??? It makes no sense otherwise.

There is really limited off campus parking options north of campus because of the neighborhood which is part of the parking problem.

Thanks for the info.

TS might be the Holy Land of football stadiums once completed, but this catered totally for market purposes.

The fans have been asking for one thing for years; more and accessible parking.

Take care of your fans, you won't see any lack of fan support.

"also learnt that not all seats are the same dimensions"

I could have told you this if you've asked me...lol I've sat in every corner and straight stretch in the stadium . Some seat markings differ as much as six inches. The NW corner is the worst/ smallest . I've been in the upper deck for last three years because I hate sweaty thighs rubbing on either side of me 5 out of 7 games.
