The synergy of this staff is going to be great.
-Jones and Patrick develop the guards and are excellent recruiters. Both have also shown they are at worst decent x's and o's guys. nonetheless elite recruiters
-Treloar is the great tactician and according to some comments on the boards can develop bigs. Anyone who Bobby Knight allows on staff for 10 years works for me. His pedigree also shows recruits he knows exactly how to get these recruits to the NBA.
-If Treloar really is "coming home", these are 3 guys who really want to be at LSU. I don't think Avery Johnson really wants to retire in Tuscaloosa, nor Howland be in starkville for 5 years. same goes for Pearl. This could be the beginning of a great long-term run for LSU. "Consistency" comes to mind

Good good good hire. Was hoping on a miracle we could get K. Davis, but this is a big deal. Good for CJJ and good for us. ??

Seems like he had a pretty boss job in Phoenix (an awesome city) wonder why he left?

Possibly wants some more hand on coaching work. IDK. Everyone reports he loves the area and having already coached here, he and/or his wife could very well have friends in town that they missed.
I'm sure he will get a pretty nice paycheck and he may have just fell for LSU. Who knows.

I said this briefly in the other thread, but I am sooooo jacked about this.
I have no idea about the other coaches and what they did or do. But I personally know how hard Treloar works. He was always first there and last to leave. I personally have been with him for 2-3 hours after practice while he was working out players. It's not a coincidence that when he showed up, D-Mitch's FT% went from 71% in 03-04 to nearly 85% in 05-06.
Before games he worked out Tyrus and G-Temp so hard afterwards it was as if they had just played the game themselves.
Absolutely love this guy. He's obviously under the radar as far as fans go, but he's so incredibly respected in basketball circles.
ETA: One of the first practices the coaches were allowed to be at, he asked if I could stay after to help rebound and pass and what not. He wanted D-Mitch to make 16/20 from the corners, elbows, and top of the key from 3, then make 20 in a row FT's. We were in there for close to 2 hours. D-Mitch drained the 3's but the FT's were tough. He told D-Mitch "You have one of the best strokes, there is no reason you should shoot 70% at the line." They did this everyday until the season started. He said if he shot above 80% on the year, he only had to do it once a week. Mitch shot 85% on the year. Just awesome

You sir get an upvote from me!! This is the kind of insight that I like/need to hear as an LSU fan when it comes to players, hires, etc. It's refreshing to know that we have a hands-on coach who puts in work and extra work even to improve players and team deficiencies. It appears Treloar has past experience with developing players and EVALUATING players on different levels, most notably the NBA!! This can only be noted as a win for LSU!!!

Great hire coach
This! Loved Treolar when he was here before. He's a difference-maker on a staff if you let him be. I truly believe that.

I suspect Simmons will get a lot of free throw instruction/repetition this Fall.

MALIK, What do YOU think about this hire??

Was my favorite guy on Brady's staff(was also precise & concise in 6th Man meetings). Spent time under Knight, Newton, technical coach, scouting coach, etc..
