Lol. The fact you are comparing byu's schedule to sec teams is priceless. USM probably had a winning record last year too. Have a good day dude.

Not expecting to stop Guice, he's the best runningback in the nation. We're just hoping to minimize the damage he will do and I am liking our odds of doing a decent job of that given our history of run defense, in particular with our front 7. I think its realistic to hold him under 150 yards with our front 7.

You are delusional. Inflated sec view? I believe the sec has had 6 different programs win a NC in the last 30-35 years, plus they have other teams that would win your conference now and then, such as Arkansas and ole miss, and a&m, and other teams that would definitely compete for a conf title in your conference, such as south Carolina and miss state.

You keep giving yourself the coaching edge. Lsu quite possibly has the best two coordinators in football, and certainly top 5 on each side of the ball.

Look, if Lsu makes a lot of mistakes, the game could be close, but there is a reason it is 2 td spread.

I don't suspect a blowout and it's certainly reasonable to expect we will have growing pains with a new OC, but the issue I see for BYU is team speed. Now that our OC will be more likely to get our skill players like Guice out on the edge, slower, less athletic teams will be more challenged. I think it will stay close until midway through the 3rd Qtr and LSU will start to pull away.

You will most likely get us at our most vulnerable with the new OC and only 4 returning defensive starters so it would be the best possible time for an upset, but I find it unlikely.

I think white is going to be a monster in the middle. If the bowl game was any indication I don't think we miss a beat there, and imo he has a lot more upside than beckwith, and that's not to knock beckwith

And what conference would that be?

I agree and have stated my excitement with him as a full time starter. He does have to learn schemes and positioning so he still may have missteps. White, Adams, Beckwith and Riley were the heart of the D and are gone. Key is the only returning impact player and he will not suit up week 1. It will take time to get the D going again, but the talent is there. Just not as experienced.

cant imagine the BYU folks are large bettors. i will probably throw some $ down.

for me right now i think byu stays close 1st H. with a prior game they will start well. i may try in get the 2nd half line at halftime live.

Do you think they've been working on this during the off season?? White will be busting heads from play one.

and we have plenty of defensive speed now (and the past few years), unlike what we've had traditionally, I think some folks will be surprised. Fred Warner is legit and our secondary (though young) s pretty athletic and fast (maybe not by BAMA, Florida and LSU standards) but we'd be middle of the pack in the SEC with our secondary speed. We're not the slow white group that we traditionally were in the 80s, 90s and 00s.

again, given BYU tendencies to play teams close, physically and scrap away, I don't see LSU pulling away much at all (assuming they do), I see a close, lower scoring game.

Like someone else said, I see it being close in the first half, hell y'all might even be ahead at half. But, I see our speed and depth taking over once our players settle down and get rolling. I say LSU 38-21, but BYU leading at half 21-17.

Let's see...I recall LSU being a HUGE favorite agin' Wisconsin last year. How'd that work out. LSU will be taking nothing for granted (I hope) this year...

You could be on to something here. Last year at Pitt, in Coach Canada's first and only season there, his offense only gained 261 total yards in a 28-7 win over Villanova. Could the large scoring margin have something to do with the low offensive output? The next week Pitt gained 432 yards against Penn St in a 42-39 win against the Nittany Lions.

Coach O is looking to offset the "beginning of the season learning curve" by having 4 preseason games for LSU. Says it will be just like the NFL. If so, hopefully the last game will have all backups for the majority of the time.

Well, we'll be playing ourselves, so not sure how it will be similar to the NFL. They'll also be played in a controlled environment, not in a hostile away venue. They definitely gain an advantage by playing an actual game the week before they play us.

Yeah, sorry about that, but I think the BYU game was scheduled back when the Cougars were a decent team. Too late now to change it to Wisconsin or Oregon like LSU's opening games in the past.

Good luck. I hope with the new LSU offense, unlike in the past if a team slows Guice down other players will hurt you.

O better have us foaming at the mouth to play BYU that team snipes somebody almost every year in the first week or two. I don't see us having a letdown vs anybody. O knows what kind of scrutiny he'll be under he's desperate to win here and looking at last season our preparation was always very good. That doesn't mean we will play great or be sharp every game I just don't see us having letdowns emotionally.
