I agree with this 1,000%. I won't mention a name, but a local sports talk radio host told me a month before it happened that when, not if, JJ was reinstated on the team within a couple of games he would be the starter and JL would not see the field again for any significant snaps and that's exactly what happened.

this is obviously why we lost Keil. His family saw the whole year, not just the final game. The stuff about mamma was just smoke.

Mett would not have gone unbeaten as the starter.
Too inexperienced in the SEC. He would have had some growing pains.

I'm thinking Mett was better but didn't have the total LSU experience and practice reps to have a factor this past year.

meaning that..at that point in time, he was not better.
he may be better in the future as experience comes into play...he may also be more athletic, but OVERALL, he was not yet better.

just making a point.. not disagreeing with you.
others do not want to include EXPERIENCE as a judging factor.

I never understand why people are so stuck on this belief. I would understand if you are talking about a true freshman, and that he needs to grow up.

Mett was in his 3rd year removed from HS and had a year of JUCO.

I feel like some people do not realize that if you want the QB to be your starter, he eventually has to get his 1st start in the SEC.

He didn't have to. But, when you are scoring 38 points a game and blowing out everyone you play, it would have been wise to give him a ton of playing time to prepare him for not only the 2012 season but maybe even the Bama game(s).

So, what growing pains should we expect in 2012 from Mett? And, why didn't Miles play him enough during the 2011 season?

Here's our margins of victory for the year:

Not playing Mett this year was a tragedy and I hope it doesn't cost us in 2012.

By the 2nd half of the rematch, I didn't give a shite who came in. Try something, anything to make a positive play on offense.

Mett was the most talented on the team but talent alone doesn't always make you better.

Yeah because the guy on the bench is never as good as the starter........ "What" says Tom Brady

Love how people still trot out this myth. First, the other QB spent 5 years in the NFL (something JJ will not do). Then there's the fact that Brady started EVERY game
quote:

Before the opener, Carr made a decision: Brady would start; Henson would play the second quarter; at halftime the coaches would pick which one would finish the game. While this must have irritated Brady, he couldn't complain to his teammates, who had voted him captain. He couldn't complain to his parents, who had let him make his own decisions—including the one to stay at Michigan—and expected him to live with them. He could only compete.

Brady earned the second-half nod in four of the first five games, and Michigan won all five. Asked about the unusual platoon system, he endorsed it: "It's working great for us."

The Wolverines lost their next game, to Illinois, when the defense blew a 20-point second-half lead. But Carr had seen enough. Brady was his quarterback. Brady had vanquished Henson, but the two had also become friends.

Just face the facts that either Mett as good as advertised, or Miles is a terrible QB judge.

I've always thought the latter. Let's all hope that's the case. But it still doesn't make me feel better about <iles' influence on future QB decisions

He didn't beat out either Lee or JJ. Blackwell said he was goofy and immature

It wasn't just the BCS...JJ was a deer in the headlights for years...

If hard headed Miles would have played Mett some during the year, and really played him in the BCS,
Sabin would have lost a nut....

Brady sat behind Bledsoe his first year in New England.

Guess he wasn't any better than Drew. . .oh wait.

Then you needed to leave this out of your OP, don't you think?

Nice try, though
