Great to see a man with so many options coming back here to learn and teach. Plus he is the best dressed coach in history of Lsu sports.

Maybe our head coach some day.

Plus 10 years pro experience. Hope current players pick his brain. Hard work paid off for him.

Really, his play dropped off slightly every year. But yes, he was fun as hell to watch. Those were entertaining teams back in the Brady years. Made watching the guy's whose teams came after that much harder to watch.

“We are excited about Ronald Dupree’s addition to our staff as he continues to pursue his degree in electrical engineering,” said Coach Jones. “He has shown through our camps and clinics his passion and desire to be involved in coaching and we look forward to his participation with our basketball team serving as a student assistant coach this year.”

Damn.

I never forgot that he was an electrical engineering major when he was playing ball at LSU. He is the only major sports LSU athlete I can ever recall declaring an engineering major. And I've been following the major sports for a while. I'm not saying, I haven't missed some, it's just that rare.

I wouldn't have thought that after all these years he would try come back and finish it. That's a very difficult thing to get back in to.

His alley against Arkansas at the Meth*Mart was incredible. Seemed like he went up above the backboard to get it. Guy had hops.

I wish some of those highlights were on youtube. I'll never forget the 2003 Alabama home game when Xavier Whipple threw him an awful alley and he jumped to what seemed to be the top of the backboard off the side and threw it down. The roof almost caved in it was so damn loud. That win put us in the tourney that year.

That line used to be stuck in my head all the time. Anytime I hear the name Dupree my brain immediately goes back to Brady Ball

Yep, and a good student, too. He and I used to study together and I feel like I took away as much as he did.

There have been others. Peter Dyakowski was in engineering.

I always thought he would. Ronald was a well put together person and was too close to a degree not to.

I don't remember who it was against, but a forward took a little jumper from around the free throw line. Ronald went up in the lane and blocked it away at its apex. It was a clean block, but the guy who took the shot couldn't believe it wasn't goal-tending.

After his junior year, Ronald went to the Adidas combine to work out. They measured his vertical at 46 inches.

Had biology class with him my freshman year. He is one of the nicest athletes I ever met. Saw him at some games and introduced my dad to him and it was like they knew each other their whole life! One of my favorite LSU athletes!
