I was there in the flesh. The biggest joke of a football game I’ve ever seen and a truly miserable experience.

It was wet and cold and that damn wind coming off the lake by the stadium was brutal.

Stevan Ridley was our leading rusher with 13 yards on 12 rushes. Les threw the ball 24 times in the slop, Pedo enabler Joe Paterno threw it 35 times. Just a disgusting football game. Penn State fans were mostly cool, most cared more to discuss the Eagles and Saints and the NFL playoffs coming up. Universal Studios was the highlight of the trip.

How a high level college football game was allowed to play on this, I’ll never know.

Field looked actually dangerous. That stadium is in a shitty part of Orlando too

So many people try to tell me the new stadium is nice and it really isn’t. Better than it used to be? Sure. But it’s far from nice.

Edit. I was also at this game and it was terrible.

Remember whenever Rob Bolden transferred to LSU in ‘12 and everyone here melted because they thought Les found his new JJ

As I recall the halftime performances involved music and field repairs at the same time. Each band was limited to one side of the field while the opposite side was getting the loose pieces of turf put back in place.

Then the 2nd half started and the field turned to slop again.

I don’t think they even play this game in 2022. We weren’t as soft and ready to cancel things at the drop of a hat in 2009*. If that field is out there in 2022 half of what’s left of the team would opt out during warm ups.

It was a perfect storm of misery. It was warm and storming up until kickoff. Then the front passed through and it turned wet and cold.

There was standing water shin deep in the corners of the field during pregame. At halftime the bands couldn’t march and we had to stand still and play while a huge crew used buckets to try to beat the field back into itself.

I was there.
Got rained on at the beginning. Then the temperature dropped about 20 degrees and we froze. The field was a disgrace. Lost at the end on an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty because the referees were letting the players lay on the pile.
Spent 16 hours at a jam packed Magic Kingdom on NYE.
Otherwise it was a great trip.

If I recall, that was like the 5th or 6th game played in that stadium over the course of a week between HS state championships and the other orlando bowl

Was in attendance… vividly remember Jordan Jefferson Russell Shepherd and Trindan Holiday slipping about 12 times… all would’ve have been 70 yard TDs. Miles Got out strongman balled by a big 10 opponent… what a shitty game

Could use more games like this. Football is too soft these days. That's why the players are the way they are now

When lightning in Denham Springs cancelled a game at Tiger Stadium you knew the soy boys had taken over. Now throw in all of the ridiculous rules on targeting and roughing and it might as well be flag football. Opt outs for the quitters who are too good to play with their teammates just ices it.

Trindon tried to turn a corner during a return and 5 yards of turf lifted and moved under him like a slippery rug. It was so bad.

Yeah we were there as well. It stormed then we froze our butts off but we stayed to that joke of an ending. Good Ole Les and his clock management issues. I lost my voice at the end of the game from being so mad
The field got worse after halftime because they let both marching bands march up and down all over it after the monsoon. I couldnt believe they actually let them on the field it was bad already.

Yeah, I remember that narrative, too, about the multiple high school championships. I was there and the thing that I remember the most about that game is that you could smell the mud as if you were rolling around in it. That and the PSU fans getting angry that we were chanting and yelling before the game and changed seats. Then there was the penalty that ultimately took us out of FG range for one of our lineman lifting a PSU defender off of JJ. Depressing game.
