do you want to support the team for 2nd half of SEC play or just bitch to bitch?

I've supported the team all year, and have supported this program through worse stretches than this. I do reserve the right to bitch though. And there have been reasons at times even with Victor and Hornsby back.

Good win last night. I don't think we played particularly great overall, but shot well and did what we had to do.

Geaux Tigers!!

Nov/Dec won't hurt us that much. The committee will most likely chalk it up to the fact that we were missing 40% of our starting lineup. They do it every year and the ESPN analyst and basketball insiders are already putting that narrative in place every time we are mentioned. If we finish strong in conference all will be forgiven.

People need to stop worrying about us making the tournament.

We're in. But I think our seed ceiling will be kind of low, just because they can only ignore our early-season losses (even with guys injured) so much.

There is still half of the conference schedule remaining. Even right now this team is by no means a LOCK for the NCAAT. One poor week could erase everything LSU did in January. That's how tenuous their standing is.

That aside, LSU needed a big January, and for the most part they came through (though you would still love to have one more good win on the resume though besides UK). Objectively, this team has come a long way from December. They've put themselves in a position to both make the NCAAT and win the SEC. There's opportunity left on the schedule to solidify a spot in the tournament, but there is still a ton of significant basketball left to be played.

My hope for the back half of SEC play: 5-0 at home; 2-2 on the road. I think that is certainly feasible

utter BS. This "team is YOUNG" fallacy.

This teams starts 3 upperclassmen and only 1 freshman.

correct, the "youth" excuse doesn't really work in basketball anyway.

Besides, our "young" guys have now played 22 games plus another couple weeks of practice and game experience in Australia. A team with fresh faces may take a little while to gel, but we're 2/3 through the season. Time to drop all the "youth" excuses.

Well, then stay out of my positive message board thread, Lebowski.

Except it does. This is such an odd misconception driven by media narratives. Look at the best teams in the country... They're littered with upper-classmen. Freshmen taking over and carrying teams to the top represent the exception, not the rule.

I disagree, but let's still look at our roster. Of the top 7 in minutes played per game, we have 2 seniors (Hornsby and Gray), 1 junior (Quarterman), and 2 sophomores (Victor and Patterson). I wouldn't really call that a "young" team.

Not exactly sure how one can disagree with facts. In any event:
quote:

LSU is 328th nationally in experience with 1.13 years of experience per players, weighted for minutes played.

Seems pretty cut and dry to me.

Literally how are you arguing this? Since when is being a Sophomore considered an upperclassman? Not to mention Victor did not even really play last year.

Stewie just ended this thread with that stat about the minutes and being 328th, but some of you people are too dense and to hard headed to see reality.

So are you saying experience doesn't matter? Or are you saying that we have experience?

On one hand you are saying that are youth doesn't matter but now you are saying that we are not a youthful team which is false.

A tall order with aggy coming in to BR. I think they can withstand a loss in that spot, though.

I'd be interested to see where we settle since we no longer start Sampson, replacing him with Hornsby, and we play Victor, Robertson, and Malone on the block now.
