@Sampson you mean the guy that has 6 catches on the year?
quote:
@Sampson it's not balanced, there are only 20 catches as a unit in 2 games. this is a 1-dimensional approach that has had big plays.
quote:
@Sampson when it comes on 39 pass attempts vs 105 rushing attempts, it is. you realize how wide that gap is in play calling?
quote:
@Sampson so you agree it isn't balanced then? and that part of the success (big play) could be from teams stacking the box & betting on 75% run?
quote:
@Sampson you realize only 15 schools have fewer completions than LSU? 7 of that 15 have only played 1 game. 3 of remaining 8 run option
quote:
@Sampson and to be fair, 2nd year guys throw the ball plenty when coaches trust the QB & WR to get it done.
quote:
@Sampson the big play off play-action isn't what concerns me. it is the lack of possession receptions & drive extenders.
quote:
@Sampson it is natural for you to be higher on them than I am. that's ok. it also can be a product of QB trust from staff. that's ok, too
And then I ended it with

@InTheBleachers And u should expect copious amounts of shite talking from me on here all season and ending with Dural winning the Biletnikoff
He wasn't as terrible as I thought he was going to be. He also said he's pulling for the kid (Dural).

In all fairness, LSU hasn't really thrown it to anyone else much in the offense and that's not going to fly down the road if you can't find a #2 somewhere.

Week 2 result: Won 23-15 at Northwestern
Week 3 matchup: Sept. 13 at Northern Illinois?
So NIU plays against NIU? Anybody catch that?

The Sampson guy was pretty reasonable in his responses. However, Jennings second half performance vs Wisconsin should carry more weight with him. Of course they were going to run it a lot vs Wisc, Badgers replaced their entire front 7(nearly), LSU was stacked at oline and Rb. He settled in nicely in the second half. It is not just the QBs that are young, it is the WRs too...they will trust these players more as they gain more experience. I am not sure how much more passing he wanted in a 56-0 win.

that makes some of the idiotic tantrums on the scoreboard during the games look like some Football Insider algorithm by comparison.
if these guys want to "sell" on LSU as a "legitimate playoff contender", fine, whatever, because that doesnt actually mean anything and I have no idea who the frick they are and see no reason to care what they think. so whatever.
but they're "selling" LSU to "buy" Florida.
meaning they essentially think Florida can win the SEC. Florida. who was 4-8 last year. who lost their last 7 games. who lost to Georgia Southern 2 games ago. who lost to Vanderbilt 4 games ago. oh but they snapped their 7 game losing streak by beating Eastern Michigan, and now they're primed to win the SEC. are these guys impressed because Florida threw it 47 times? because I assure you, LSU could have done that too. its not hard against these teams.
and to say LSU has no answer at WR is just cartoonishly dumb. the site has amari cooper in their heisman top 5. he has 25 catches for 319 yards and 1 TD. Dural has 6 catches for 291 yards and 4 TDs. so I guess cooper immediately falling down every time he touches the ball is good. its a "drive extender", as he says, whereas Dural scoring every time he touches the ball, regardless of where he is on the field at the time, kills the drive immediately.
and I suppose he's right, touchdowns do stop the drive, the refs take the ball away at that point, you're not allowed to just keep going, he's got me there.

what have you guys seen at WR that gives you such hope against better secondary's.
Trey Quinn has shown great hands with a one-handed catch on a little screen/flare against Wisconsin and a very nice catch falling to the sideline against SHSU. He almost made a circus catch on the play before Diarse's TD against Wisconsin. He looks fast, sharp and smooth with great hands. I don't see how anyone could have anything but good things to say about him after two games.
Diarse, obviously as you mentioned has done very well. He is big, strong and fast. Against Wisconsin, his YAC got us a crucial first down on 3rd and long at the sideline and a game-changing TD on another third and long. He is very physical and I think a lot of DBs are going to miss tackles on him after he catches the ball this year. He should also be very good in the jump-ball situations, as he should win that battle against most DBs.
Dural, it goes without saying, is knocking the lights out with his speed, vertical leap and good hands. Also, he and Jennings seem to have good chemistry and timing.
Dupre didn't play against Wisconsin, so we haven't seen as much from him, but his catch on that fade from Harris was tremendous, as was Harris' throw. That would have been a TD against anybody.
If there's a more pleasant surprise on this team in the first two weeks than these young receivers, I would sure as hell like to know what it is.
