Just flipping through my Sports illustrated and saw that he was top 5 in MLB with his percentage of curveballs thrown at 33.3%. I know he was dominant at LSU but I didn't get to see him pitch much. Also he just came off the disabled list did this have anything to do with him throwing so many curveballs? It sucks he is on a crappy Phillies team. I would like some firsthand knowledge from the best college baseball fans in the nation.

Thanks I guess that is better than discussing it

I always thought his 2 seam fastball was the nastier pitch he had.

It was when he was at LSU. He really developed that curve later.

Slight hijack but I only need a simple yes or no answer. Didn't Eric Gagne have one of the nastiest curves in the big leagues?

I believe he did. He didn't last that long for a relief pitcher maybe the curveball did him in also.

And being busted for steroids didn't help.

They've done studies recently that show a power fastball puts more wear and tear on the arm than a curve. These are MLB pitchers. Not a 9 year old tossing looping curves with bad mechanics

You can't discuss it. You can only stand in awe of it.

Where's the gif of his 2 seam fastball. THAT is ridiculous.

He's easily got the best movement in the league or is in the top 3 at least. Idk all these pitches that well but I bet there aren't many guys that can manipulate a baseball like Aaron Nola can. He can throw it for balls or strikes when ever he pleases. What was the ball that dropped straight down? Kinda looks like a change up but also looks like a slider with that bite it has.

He is a great pitcher. Him and Ben McDonald where my favorites to watch. There have been a lot of good ones come through here. When he is healthy and zoned in he is one of the best pitchers In baseball. Was it last year he started the season out really strong but had zero run support?

I've never seen another LSU pitcher with control as good as his. I doubt that anyone has. The dude would pitch two complete games back to back with one walk between the two of them.

Freshman Walker reminds me ALOT of freshman Nola, with a tad less velo. If we get 80% Nola, that'd be great.
