I'd rather lose because of turnovers and mental errors than playing not to lose. Protecting Harris is doing him no favors. You cannot hide on 3rd and medium in the SEC. Asking him to throw and make plays is imminent and the approach yesterday helped zero with his development. This must change.

This is why letting him take his lumps last year would have been huge.

Uhhuh, sure you would. You and all the rest of the idiots would be screaming for blood if we lose a game on a pick 6.

Basically you're saying you would rather lose than win......Whos side are you on? This is seriously the dumbest post I've seen so far.

How are you rantards still not accepting that he was injured in the Auburn game last year and too hurt to be effective? Do you consider playing with a bum and ankle and risking season or career ending injury taking his lumps or are you just determined to find a reason to take a shot at Miles?

Agree. Maybe they thought Jennings was the guy though anyone with a semblance of sense can tell the better talent.

Your lack of reading comprehension on the other hand is commonplace on this board.

i agree with their approach of protecting him as much as they can, but they'll need to realize that once brandon's comfortable in a game situation, then the leash needs to come off.

felt as if there was no point that brandon was not comfortable last night. he was in control, played within himself and didn't force anything. the run that he had (when clapp committed the unnecessary holding penalty) was a thing of beauty.

that's what was so perplexing about last night. I can understand holding back if you had a qb that was struggling all game and was afraid to make another mistake.

but brandon had yet to make his first one in that game...

We basically said, ok, we've seen enough. We're going to take the ball out of your hands as we nurse this 8 pt lead for a quarter and a half. He's probably wondering what he did wrong.

What message did we send him and the rest of the team?

Wait so you would rather lose to Miss State for a 2nd year in a row instead of winning? I get what you are saying about opening up the offense, but WE F**KING WON LAST NIGHT!

Actually it is. He lead his team to a win on the road vs a top 25 SEC West opponent. The builds confidence and lets him know that his team can help support him. That will give him the confidence to open it up and not be afraind of making turnovers later on in the season when we actually need him to.

So you would have rather lost last night because of a pick6 than win the way we did?

It's not about last night. It's about our general philosophy. Follow it and we will lose many games this year.

You didn't answer my question. It's a yes or no question.

Let Harris make mistakes against McNeese, not on the road in a division game

Hey dumb dumb, Jennings gave LSU the best chance to win last year because Brandon Harris had a bum ankle after the Auburn game. Did you want Harris playing on one leg?

quote:

People don’t realize I dealt with a high ankle sprain that lingered throughout the season,” Harris said. “I’m now 100 percent healthy after rehabbing the right way.”

Why would Harris have thrown a losing pick 6? He was doing great early on. If you're trying to protect your QB, then wouldn't all the running plays have happened in the early part of the game to let Harris' nerves settle?

Difficult to respond to a post this strange. But it confirms a suspicion I have long-held: lots of posters on this and other boards are looking for style points not wins. They would rather lose their way then win with Les Miles. Kind of dumb but there it is.

Ofcourse not. I'm a die hard LSU fan. Nothing is worth a loss. But a change in philosophy is needed.

I'd rather let him make those mistakes against Eastern Michigan and Syracuse when we are going to win anyway

I mentioned this in the other thread, but picks really don't matter that much. True, they can be a little psychologically demoralizing if there are a lot of them, and you can see how timid Jeremy Johnson looks right now.

The difference in field position on a 3 and out punt drive versus a drive ending in a pick isn't that much different. You accept the risk of throwing picks because it allows you to move the ball more and keeps the defense honest. One extreme example is the Saints' offense. Drew Brees is one of the most naturally accurate QBs of all time, but he throws a decent amount of picks. You accept that as a byproduct because it comes along with an offense that is balanced and scores more often.

I also mentioned this in the other thread, but if Miles keeps this philosophy of dragging his feet on letting Harris open up, we don't throw 15 times against any of our opponents in November. If that happens, he deserves the 3+ losses he'll earn.
