The rant told me that no one out side of LSU fans think that miles is a good coach
A lot of the Rantards with 60,000+ posts think Miles is still one of the worst coaches in America.

LSU is where Miles belongs, and he knows it.
This cat is the anti-Saban, and he'll be here as long as we'll have him.

Les IS a fantastic players' coach. However, I think this article seriously under values how important recruiting is to Les's success since he came to LSU.
Because he is so good with the players, he has been a fantastic recruiter. That's 80% of the battle for a college coach.
Also, I bring this up everytime a college coach gets mentioned for the NFL, why work the longer hours in the less secure job for essentially the same pay?

Only one difference - recruiting vs drafting.
CLM is what he is at LSU b/c it's LSU. He's a great coach, no doubt, but you can't cherry pick the draft like we cherry pick the country's HS talent.

He would make a good NFL coach. Ego maniacs like saban, petrino, spurrier are not a good fit.

I personally would like to see how Les would do. If he fails...the college game will always have a spot for him.

Yep, unfortunately.

Not a chance...Miles is not Saban (and I mean that in a good way)
He likes the college atmosphere. He likes to shape young men. He likes to teach leadership. He likes to forge strong team bonds. His ego doesn't need the satisfaction of being a head coach at "the highest level."
Plus, he's probably smarter than that. Why on earth anyone would want to leave a premier team in a premier conference where you have every recruiting advantage and are set up to compete for titles for years to come and trade that for a 3 year stint in the grinder that is the NFL is beyond me.

Let's not be completely naive.

1. $$
2. NFL is the pinnacle of football. I would think anyone who is talented enough to play or coach football at a high level has the goal of doing so in the NFL.

Meh ... he makes 3.5 now. If wins even and SECC this year he's looking at 4+ for sure and probably 4.5 if he gets a MNC.

You do not understand what motivates Les Miles...I strongly doubt he cares about the extra million he might get...plus, it's smarter to take $3.5 for 10 years than risk a crash and burn in the NFL at $5mil for 3 years even if you look at it from a purely financial standpoint.

I would not be surprised at all if Les Miles told me he considered big time college football as the "pinnacle of football." And of course players want to play in the NFL mainly for two reasons: (i) aside from U$C and Miami, they are not paid to play college ball and they need to make a living and (ii) their eligibility is limited. However, there are a host of career college football coaches that could easily have taken a shot at pro ball and chose not to.

Agree he makes plenty enough to keep him here. But what if Jerry offered 10? Just saying the NFL has more $$ to throw around.

IMO, Miles is content at LSU and he doesn't translate well as a NFL HC.
He's staying. The guy loves the frick out of some LSU.

I love stuff like this starts, one guy puts out what is clearly an opinion piece, using the ever popular "unnamed sources" and suddendly it becomes a "fact" that "many" NFL teams are interested in Miles.
I'll say this, if he does go, be worried about Willie Lyles.
