Travin Dural's got great speed, the ability to catch the long ball, height and ability. He'll make a number of big plays throughout this season. Malachi Dupre is so much more talented than he was coming into last year. He's faster, more ability to cut on a dime, more ability to go up and get balls, a really, really talented ball-skilled receiver. No question that he'll have a great, great year. Trey Quinn was injured early in camp and has come back, and he really looks like he hasn't missed a beat. He catches the ball well and does really wonderfully. John Diarse, big, strong, capable, great ball skills. Tyron Johnson maybe the No. 1 receiver in the country coming out of high school last year, again is in position to play very significant football. D.J. Chark is another talented guy. We're looking at Jazz Ferguson as a 6-foot-5, 210-pound, tremendous ball skills, has got some physicality to him. I mean, our receiving corps is better than it's been by 10-fold. I mean, I'm just saying, it's just way more talented than it's been.

In 2013 we had two superstars and little else. This year we have one guy on the verge of being a superstar and several solid contributors. I don't think it's a stretch to think that our top 6 guys now are better than Wright and Boone were. So as whole our corps might be better than that year. At the top, it almost certainly won't be.

LSU has receivers sitting on the bench that are capable of starting a numerous top 25 schools. Loaded at WR is an understatement for this team.
We all thought Quantavious Leslie was going to set the field on fire with his hands and speed, but the poor guy has gotten buried in the depth chart.

I doubt he sees the field this year.

Add the TEs, and RBs to that list. There is an obvious reason they are all more talented: Harris and the accurate, catch-able ball he throws. He had them out 24/7 during the summer throwing them 1,000's of balls a week: “The receivers fought hard this summer, and I was tough on them by asking a lot of things, getting them up. I tried to get them to catch passes with me every chance I could, and they responded well. It kind of helps whenever you can hear one voice, and the guys really responded well.” "All of the tight ends, in the summer time, we probably caught over 1,000 balls throughout the week every week," said 6'5', 308 lb Dillon Gordon.

Dural vs FLA doing his OBJ

Dupre vs ALA with Cyrus Jones grabbing his face mask

Honestly, with all the talent at WR I would add a lot more spread offense. I think it would help Fournette by forcing teams out of the box and give Harris more opportunities to see the field or run. With all of the talent on O this offense could be scary good with a little imagination added to the playbook.

He didn't forget. These receivers are better than 2013. OBJ and Jarvis were great, but neither is as good as Malachi. He will be a top five pick. I believe that OBJ and Landry are both better than this year's #2 receiver, Dural, but the 2015 backups are better than 2013.

I'd take 2015 over 2013. Not only are they better, but they're more diverse, and they create matchup problems that 2013 did not.

Pump the brakes

And people forget Kendall Wright was on the 2013 team. He didn't catch a pass yet he made the Bengals roster and played as a rookie

Malachi isn't better than obj or juice. Our depth seriously outmatches any depth we have had since 06 or 07

Mett was throwing to Kendall Wright in 2014, James Wright in 2013.

Looking at these photos of Dural and Dupre, I think we underestimated the kind of year our WR corps had. Or rather, they made some amazing plays that we may have seen more of had we had an actual passing game.

They made some mistakes and had some limitations, but whether it was the game-winning catch by Dural versus UF, Malachi's catches versus Bama and Miss St, or Diarse breaking tackles against Wisky ad the Aggies, these guys can make plays on the ball.

Woah. Are you talking about OBJ, the NFL rookie of the year?

Malachi will be a first round draft pick, but saying he's better than either of these guys (at the same point in their career) is just silly.

He played more as a freshman because we had nobody else last year.
