Nobody is doing that. You are going out of your way to continue to paint him in a bad light. Perhaps it's time for you to move on, let go of that bitterness and accept that despite it being time to go in a different direction, Les is a class act and has a lot of love for LSU and his players.

Yea, a truly stupid man would have walked away from several million dollars just to appear selfless. If you were in your early 60's, with 2 kids still in school, would you walk away from all that guaranteed money just to look good? Good Lord. There's a reason he is a millionaire & you are not.

Im sorry, but a truly selfless man, knowing what you've just stipulated, wouldn't have forced the university to fire him. He'd have stepped down.

Give me a break. Not one person I know would just say "you know what, the game has passed me by. Keep my massive pay check."

I'm not denying that at all.

It just seems kind of stupid to me to call the guy "truly selfless" when he's being paid quite well to leave.

Cliff Notes - He workout this morning. He was fired face to face. He says he is for the Tigers. He did not fight it, 'beyond fighting.' He would argue that he made the moves that got LSU only one second, i.e. he could have done more to get more time. There was no under current in the football building. Outside the football building there was a divide. Wished team well, they deserve the best, exited as fas as possible. How tough is this job? 'I think it's a blast. It's not hard, it's a joy.' Would you do things differently? 'I gave this team a chance to win in every game. But there are ways to be better.' Will you coach again? 'I don't golf, I enjoy shooting the gun but not at animals, I play cards but not well. I want to be involved in the game.' He will coach again and expect the best. 'I have had a great run and LSU and I enjoyed my time here.' This Saturday will be tough. Looking for tickets to UNC FSU. Will be rooting for the LSU Tigers.

He sounded positive, humble, and 100% forever LSU.

Then he's not "truly selfless" then, is he?

How about "somewhat selfless"? Is that OK by you?

It seems more stupid to double down on this ridiculous post of yours.

Patrick comes across as a smug individual.

"That would be a good parting gift for Les, some new tires, so he can drive out of town."

Yeah, I agree. I have never been fond of the Les speak, but he has always been genuine in his delivery and his love for LSU.

Loved the comments about speaking to the players. Thanked Alleva for the opportunity and recognised not all outgoing coaches have that chance. Said he kept it brief and got out of the way. Total class.

Didn't set himself up as a martyr and wallow in sadness. Didn't whine or blame or complain or shift focus. All positive and pro-LSU. He couldn't have done any better in that interview.

Since it's a business decision, I hope LSU fans will be as classy as Miles and stay away from the personal.

Here's the transcript for those who couldn't watch or listen. ETA: I don't think it's 100% complete.

LINK

Here's what Miles said:

Got up this morning, got my work out in. The necessity to be productive is something this family, this Miles family, requires of you.

How were you told you were fired?

Face to face. Joe Alleva said we’re going to have to make a change. And I’m for the tigers. Anything they see that makes the Tigers better, I’m for it. I accepted the outcome and will support that decision and these Tigers going forward

Did you try to fight it?

It was beyond fighting. The enjoyment of being here, the enjoyment of community, the experiences that my family’s had, it’s too important to fight over. It’s history. It’s what we were are. If they see a change makes the tiger better, I’m for them.

If you beat Auburn, would you still be employed?

I want you to know something. How that game ends, with the Tigers fighting for their breath, maybe there’s a way the coach could’ve got them a second more. I would argue that I made those moves. One second. It’s certainly a decision that was made more appropriately over more than a second.

Was you being fired an undercurrent there or lingering?

If it was there, I went beyond it. I enjoyed going into my room and enjoying seeing the young men I recruited and I coached. If there was an undercurrent, it did not exist in the that building. What goes on inside the building just didn’t matter.

Did you talk to your players?

I did and I appreciate Joe Alleva giving me that opportunity. I took advantage of it. I did not stay long, but wished them well. They deserve the best. I think Ed Orgeron will do a great job for them.

How tough is this job?

I think it’s a blast. I think coaching football and being with young players and developing them … taking a team into an opponent’s stadium and coming out with a victory (is a blast). I don’t think this job’s hard.

Do you do anything differently?

I always review everything. In certain things, we could’ve been better. I gave us a chance to win the game.

Do you want to coach again?

I don't golf, play no tennis. I enjoy shooting the gun, don't necessarily like pointing at animals. Play cards, but not very well. But what I've done for 12-14 hours a day for the last number of years is coach football. I'd have a difficult time not being a coach.

What would you tell your successor?

How fortunate you are to coach the LSU Tigers. Taking them to the field, walking into the home and representing them.
