7 Lineman, 5 offensive, 2 defensive, left the team after O was hired. Then I see it blamed on Les. How is that his fault?

These things happen with all coaching changes. How do people not expect it to have an effect?

We will also be paying 2 coaches to be broadcast analyst on top the coach at that times salary with no guarantee that that coach works out. So then what's the plan. Sounds like losing money either way. I rather just support what we have it may go a long way it may not

That stuff is great PJ, but only gets you so far, so long.
I haven't seen it this year.

Agree with the tricky part, in that maybe too much time spent on it instead of position tech.

Not sure about the coutry club slant, but I can't subscribe to the Studs time frame, as 2013 was pretty good, just had an underwhelming D by LSU standards.
Actually, LSU also led SEC in YPC in '15 and '16 and that isn't possible without a good OL, so that entire premise is kinda unfounded.
Well, we are 1 recruiting cycle removed from Miles and we have OL issues.

The last OT Studrawa recruited was Pocic. No doubt a good one, but ended up at C because of necessity.

The last time we took more than 2 OT in a recruiting class with Stud on staff was 2008 (not counting Dillon Gordon as an OT)

I keep seeing those YPC leader numbers as evidence that our OL was tops. Those numbers are skewed because of a +230 lb back with breakaway speed named Fournette, and a guy named Guice. In 2016 we gave up "only" 19 sacks. But we don't pass alot; that was with 298 passes (1 sack every 15.7 pass play). By comparison, Ole Miss gave up 26 sacks on 483 pass plays and a running QB (TFL= sack), 1 sack every 18.6 pass plays.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying LSU's OL is trash and we've had nobody. I'm saying it hasn't been where we need it to be to compete in the SEC, at the level we want to be at (elite in conference).

We've had some really good players that Stud recruited, Hawkins, Pocic, etc. What we've lacked is a good enough unit, 5 of 'em lined up that can dominate the LoS like is required in the SEC. It is a cumlative effect, pipeline so to speak, and under Stud as a unit it became weaker and weaker. I think it was because Stud was overwhelmed with duties and that is on Miles. Under Orgeron as recruiting coordinator and Grimes as OL coach they have fallen short to correct it. It's on both "regimes" as far as I'm concerned.

As far as that 2013 OL is concerned, we gave up 25 sacks on 296 attempts (1 sk for every 13 attempts) and the YPC was 4th... in the SECW. As far as recruiting goes, Stud was in charge of N La; LSU lost ground at that time. LSU's presence seemed to be that of UT, not the flagship school.

We don't have a lot of depth on OL.

Jeff Grimes should be let go after the season IF Orgeron survives the season. Rob Sale and Kevin Mawae are waiting...

I know its the wrong sport, but John Wooden used to say "The best thing about a Freshman is the following year he's a Sophomore". The Freshman that steps in and is magnificent in just about every dimension at his position is either a running back or a true anomaly.

Unlike much of tRant, I happened to like Studs as OL coach (quite overqualified) and wished LSU could've kept him.

As far as LF and DG being great backs, yes but when blocking was ineffective, so were they.
Their one-on-one performances vs D helped, but evidently won't get LSU to the top of SEC rushing categories.

You can see DG struggling with the new blocking schemes now with only 2 20+ including a long of 25 against meh, FCS and not yet convinced MSU.
The other day I think I calculated breakaways down +30% from last couple years vs a much lesser schedule so far.

I hope the staff finds some answers in next 2 games.

As we all know coach O is in over his head. Saban came in and won right away after Dinardo's losing record year before.Of course coach O is no Saban.
