ok... let's assume for a second that your numbers are right, i'm not saying they are or aren't, i'm just saying for arguments sake... Lester's buy out is going to cost the school about $2.6 million/year... so that leaves plenty of money to hire a new coach, even at $4 million/year.

quote:

LSU is not going to willingly give itself the distinction of being the only SEC West team to pay its head coach less than $4 million a year.

there's just one problem with that... all the coaches in the SEC west except saban started off making less than $4 million/year(the original contracts of sumlin, freeze, bielema, and mullen were all equal to or less than $2 million/year)... now, i'm not saying they won't pay that much for a coach, but it had better be a homerun hire

also, have you noticed how you kind of contradicted yourself there?... LSU can't afford to pay for that, followed by, LSU won't pay less than that... you're trying to fit your argument into a really tight window there.

Which is why the notion of paying the salary for a new coach and the buyout for Les Miles is absurd.

So are we to assume that while Brandon Harris has been "working his butt off" that Jennings has just been sitting in jail and not getting better at his craft? Do you really think that Jennings has not improved over last year? We assume Brandon Harris has but until he takes command of the qb position why should Harris be handed the job?

Why would this surprise you?

i wasn't a big fan of JJ....hell, i wasn't a big fan of Lee either. they were both below average. but if it wasn't for JJ we don't beat bama and make it to the NC game in 2011

Harris has been with the team, throwing, handing off, and busting his arse with teammates. Jennings has not because of his legal issues. Advantage Harris.

What makes you think he has? Was it his inability to progress throughout an entire season of starts through the bowl game?

Being the vastly superior talent along with keeping your nose clean is not being handed the job. Harris is doing everything asked of a starting QB in college football and is head an shoulders above Jennings in potential. Throw in Jennings being stupid and getting himself arrested and you have a winner.

I have never seen a fanbase praise an qb like jennings that is not even average. He was the worst qb in the entire sec last year and in the bottom ten in the entire country. His ceiling at best would be average. Why does a program like LSU support average like that? I mean, I constantly hear on this board if AJ could be average and not turn the ball over, why wish for that? Why cant we wish for above average or hell even good/great qb play. Imagine what this team could be with good/great qb play. It would make every aspect of the team better. Imagine the holes LF could run through with the threat of a pass? There is a difference in supporting a person on the team and hoping the better player is on the field. But Jennings tries so hard, so what? I would give you everything I had if I could play for LSU but guess what, I am not good enough so I cant play. Same should be said for Jennings, you try and that's great. You don't produce, you don't play

Not true at all

i live a block away from campus, i walk around campus two or three times a week... the football players aren't hard to spot, mostly because they're all wearing the same thing.

This one fact has driven most fans nuts for years. We haven't had anywhere near "awesome" QB play at LSU in many years. Mett had one good year and outside of that, its been bad for the most part, and downright embarrassing on a few occasions. Miles has done a great job of filling every position on the team.....except QB and it defies logic how this program continues to trot out guys that for the most part, can't get the job done.
