Les Miles Call on Saturday

I was listening to 1210 the other day after the Florida game vs Miami where Meyer kicked a FG to beat the spread. They called him a POS, which he is for a countless number of reasons. They said miles had too much class to do something like that... But he went for it on 4th and 4 with like 4 minutes left vs N Texas as we were driving and if we would have converted, it would have given us a TD to beat the spread as well, any justification? its really bugging me..

Kicking the FG would have put us over the spread. Miles didn't take the automatic points. He gave NT a chance to stop us. The only other option would have been just to take a knee.
Our QBs still need work as well so he was trying to get as many meaningful snaps in as possible.

You're supposed to either go for it or take a knee when up big late in the fourth. You are NOT supposed to be kicking FGs and intentionally putting points on the board.

Major difference is that our passing game needs the work. Florida was just piling on. I do believe that Meyer is a POS but I'm not sure thats why though.

Hu? Going for it on fourth down was the respectful, humane strategy. Rather than kicking a needless field goal, thereby increasing the margin of victory, Miles gave UNT's defense an opportunity to prevent the touchdown, which they did.

The difference is Les Miles is allowing our inexperienced quarterback to execute a 4th down play for experience purposes whereas dirtbag Meyer would be doing it to run up the score

You can't claim that it was for experience & not point out that UF's kicker had never kicked a fieldgoal before...

going for it is the classy thing to to do in that situation.

I didn't know that. So, like I said earlier, Meyer is a POS but not for this.

According to a local radio host urban did what he did solely for the alums who had big bucks bet on the game, he covered the spread for them..... and mr. sausage was quite serious when he said it.

Meyer kicked the FG for 3 main reasons:
Biggest reason - they were facing Miami, a team they battle with for recruits daily
Next biggest reason - to cover the spread for Big UF alums that had money on the Gators not to mention "covering" looks better on Sportscenter to all the voters out there when there will potentially be another 1-2-3 USC-OU-Florida vote at the end of the year
Smallest reason - give kicker some experience
Meyer is a snake and I think it's funny how other coaches and recruits are starting to see this. It'll come back to bite him in the arse when either Florida State or Miami finally turn their program around. It's all fine now, because he's got complete control of that state.

Huge difference between the two calls and the two men.
Personally, I dont think Meyer's call was that big a deal. The game was still somewhat close and it was one of three things he could have done, the others being go for it and punt, where both were dumb things to do.
It really just gives ammunition to those who already dont like him and a reason to question his integrity.
