Both are respected names

Both won a national championship in their 3rd season. A long time ago.

Both have the greatest single season in school history. (2011 football, 2013 baseball). However both seasons resulted in no championship.

Both had a lull and then a resurgence. Football from 2008-2011. Baseball from 2010-2013.

Both can't seem to win when it matters in the postseason.

I completely agree with your post. However the liberal rantards seem to be in love with both. Im ready to see both be replaced. Tired of rewarding mediocracy and being happy with good records. Its all about National Championships.

on one hand its frustrating as hell , and on the other hand most schools would love to have the level of success of our football and baseball programs ....

It's sucks when you're right and hated at the same time.

You forget a very crucial similarity... Both have had to fill big shoes in following up two legendary coaches. Throw in a Charlie Mac following up another Paul, and you'll see the real pattern developing.

All those three did was win, and none of them got respect. Three Rodney Dangerfields that had the arduous task of following up national championship winning coaches. Two of them did as well, and still it wasn't good enough.

Paul still resides under the shadow of Skip Bertman, as did Smoke.

Fact is, LSU fans are spoiled arse rotten. That's the real problem, and it's gotten pretty damn ugly when someone wins a damn NC, and consistently has his teams in contention, and it isn't good enough. People can say that's just big time college sports all they want, but it's still ugly, and reflects on the fan base.

The LSU fanbase has become jaded, cynical and entitled. It is a product of the times, unfortunately. The Hipsterization of LSU Athletics.

I hope it won't take another Hallman era in sports to get their minds right again.

Experience that shite and people will be longing for the good old days when we were in contention. I just don't think many of these people have a very good grasp on just how fortunate and blessed LSU has been. They think it's a birth rite of sorts, and don't get me wrong. I want LSU to be in a place to contend, and I'll always be an LSU fan. I just can't say I'll be an LSU fan fan.

You grew up as a kid in the seventies watching LSU football as I did Mike. You remember when eight wins and a bowl game was a successful season. Younger fans today have no conception of that mentality. I am glad that I grew up in that time so that I was able to appreciate the success LSU had later. When all you know is success as a fan from a young age well, I don't know what that is like. LSU certainly wasn't considered a powerhouse in any sport when we were growing up.
