Right there is the problem. Think about what you just typed. Seriously.

I didn't mean this year's baseball team. I meant this is the argument we have in general on this site. But it's good to know just how little it takes to get the pumpers to get rustled.

So playing in Omaha in the CWS is underachieving?

This thread goes a long way in explaining how spoiled, entitled, and delusional some within the fan base have become. LSU is playing in the CWS, but the coaching staff and players have underachieved.

PM has directed LSU baseball to the CWS almost 50% of his seasons here, but he has underachieved cause he has only 1 NC. I have to wonder how many programs in college baseball have been to the CWS more times than LSU and won more NCs since PM arrived at LSU. It's always amusing to me when being in the 99 percentile is seen as underachieving.

but Maineri is a screw up as a baseball coach. He has no baseball IQ (which is why so many here defend him).

he's 1 of 10 active coaches with 1000+ wins and top 30 overall in wins

but i'm sure there are dozens of posters here that could do much better

90% of all football and baseball programs would trade places with LSU in a heartbeat. WE, the fans, have become very spoiled as a result of multiple NC's in both sports.

NO program has sustained a long term dominate position in one sport since UCLA won all those basketball NC's on the 70's.

While it is very frustrating to watch LSU under perform calling for either coaches head at this point is a little ridiculous.

It just proves how hard and how luck plays into it, regardless of coaching and talent.

And both are pretty awful in-game coaches.

Damn PM for misreading balls, overthrowing balls, and not having his A game at the mound and such. What was he thinking?

But that's what is sparking this whole conversation. It's a vital part of the equation of PM supposedly underachieving. If you leave out the accomplishments of this season its very convenient for your argument. Too convenient.

I was upset with the play that resulted in an L but I really don't get blaming the Coach there.

Poche looked great and then suddenly got the yips which in turn seemed to effect everyone else.

Baseball is different. There is no play calling in baseball. There is no time management in baseball.

The coach made the right decisions on who to start, the batting order. Maybe he might have pulled out Poche a batter or so earlier, but it really didn't matter in the end.

We lost yesterday because our starting pitcher lost his focus, our bullpen failed, and our hitters went cold.

These are kids, and baseball is a streaky game. To blame this on the coaching is pretty stupid.

Worth repeating.
