I'll admit that Les has been frustrating at times. But, I can't really rag on the man. He has a great regular record and wins most of his bowl games. Yeah, we could get a guy that has us going 11-2 every year, but we might also end up with a Hallman or DiNardo. Remember how THAT felt??

The Michigan job must be a largely monetary consideration for Miles, because there's no way that job is ANY where near as prestigious as the LSU gig, IMHO.

I've come to realize that over the past 10 years, the state of Louisiana views football different than it used and different than most states. Bob Stoop couldnt win a bowl game to save his life the past 5 years. But Oklahoma fans view him as a god send. Not the same for us and Les.

Les cought some heat for the 08 and 09 seasons. They were bad. But i'd like to see another team that was competing for a BCS berth (what lsu fans were complaining about bc we werent) that had the QB play that we did.

B-I-N-G-O! I think there was a dip when Saban left we lost some recruits that hurt us in 2008 and Miles has since made up the gap. He's had a good recruiting class or two and he's got another one this year. I like the position Miles has the Tigers in going into 2011. Sure, sometimes he can be crazy, but he's our crazy, and I'd be damn sad to see him go.

If Les leaving means that Alleva and TAF give the job to Bo, without seeking the more qualified and/or higher upside HC candidate.

Mainly due to familiarity, and a notion that they can work with him, heavy-handing his staff and support personnel, then I wholeheartedly agree..it would be bad for us.

BP would be a concession hire, to attempt save face to the fans(whom here on TD..seem more against such a hire), media, etc..in saying "hey, we hired a standing HC, one from a namebrand school, a winner that projects to Saban and Miles-esque success at an LSU, with all it's talent"

Saban & Miles recruiting >>>>> Pelini

Saban & Petrino X&Os >>>>>> Pelini

Mack Brown & Sarkisian totally undressed Pelini

John Chavis SEC Defense skins-on-the-wall >>>> Pelini

I dont know many fans that would want Pelini as HC. I think he would be considered. But that would be a terrible hire imo. He struggled his last year here and I agree, he is not a fantastic recruiter.
IF, not that I want it to happen at all, but if Miles takes the Michigan job. I think you go hard after Chip Kelly and try and keep Chavis on the D.

I don't think there is anyone who can't say that they've been frustrated with Miles from time to time. The fact about Miles is, in my opinion anyway, he followed Saban. No one was going to do anything right after following Saban. Having said that, Miles worst seasons here would be what some programs (including Michigan) would dream for. That's why I feel like you should be real careful about what you ask for as far as those who want him gone.

Pelini I think would be a terrible, terrible hire. Petersen, Kelly, or Patterson would be good ones - but at this point, with signing day what, a month away, I'd say any coaching change could be catastrophic. For all of Miles' faults, he's done pretty well considering he could do nothing right based on who he followed.

I think the "we can make fun of our crazy uncle, but you can't" mentality is what I have. He's insane then lucky, and has brain farts and sometimes seems like a pushover then comes out and dominates. The program is now "trending up" and looks to keep heading in that direction.
BTW iwy ygm. I sent pics from the game. I was on the jumbotron all by myself

LSU hasn't had a "bad" season since 1999.

When you give fans 3 years of 11+ wins in a row, then 8-5 or 9-4 are looked down on by us cause we have become spoiled by Top 5 success.

That doesn't make them "bad", but if you want bad...try 99, 98, 94, 93, 92, 91, and 90.

it's only bad if you like winning Cotton Bowls. If you like winning National Championships or even SEC championships, it's not a problem.

Wow...no wonder Les Miles wants to leave if he's heard this shite in person.

Never have I seen such a successful head coach be so hated by the fan base. I don't blame him one bit for leaving if he does! I agree with op that it will be bad for lsu. Everything runs in cycles and this move will start our slide down.

See Charlie Mac and Larry cooker for examples

With Saban's Recruits. We wouldn't have gotten anywhere without Dorsey and Hester.
